A Golden Age?

We hear a lot these days about a Golden Age, a phrase brought out into the light by the current American president. We remember other presidential catch-phrases. “A New World Order” comes to mind, from George H.W. Bush, who by all evidence didn’t have a Bible prophecy bone in his body. He didn’t seem to realize that his vision would be the antichrist system predicted in the New Testament.

A “golden age” can mean many things. Sometimes short-term prosperity and relative peace is attainable, though it never lasts.

Trump means an overall economic boom across the globe, rooted in America. He has been promising this for some time, though the bright gold has not filtered down to most of us yet.

At my age, I have never seen the world in such chaos. I remember the height of the Cold War. In those days, it seemed like things were spinning out of control.

Right now, they seem like the good old days.

We are seeing unprecedented things. It doesn’t feel like a Golden Age.

Interestingly, the same phrase was used by a surprising source: an IDF reserve general.

My friend Brian Schrauger interviewed Brig. Gen. Amir Avivi this week and the discussion was most interesting. Gen. Avivi kind of has our worldview:

“General Avivi believes the massive phase will last about a month, after which Iran will be defenseless—unable to pay salaries, command forces, or function as a regime.

“And here’s what struck me most: Avivi believes are living in biblical times. Just as Haman and his sons were hanged in the story of Purim (in the book of Esther), so this regime will be destroyed.”

Many people see parallels with the current action in Iran (Persia) with the Purim story from the book of Esther. This is very exciting! As you probably know, in the Medo-Persian empire of 2,500 years ago, Cyrus allowed Jewish captives from the Babylonian period to return home to Jerusalem. This on the heels of the famous story of the evil Haman seeking to destroy all the Jews in the kingdom. He and his sons were instead hanged on the gallows he had constructed for Jewish executions. Queen Esther saved her people. Now, hear Brian:

“Just as Cyrus freed the Jews 2,500 years ago, now Israel is liberating the Iranian people.

“General Avivi is confident: following this war will come peace agreements, economic boom, and massive aliyah (immigration). Israel, he says, is moving toward a golden age.”

Well, that’s certainly plausible. They must enjoy something of a “golden age” if they are dwelling in “safety” per Ezekiel. Notice too that amazing detail the general cited: massive immigration of worldwide Jewry to Israel. We also know from Scripture that the Jews are supposed to end up in Israel. Ironically, the psychopaths that adhere to Islam believe their purpose is to see the world’s Jews wind up in Israel, so they can be murdered by Allah.

Me, I’m looking far ahead to an even better Golden Age. One that the Lord of History will usher-in, for all eternity. No more cycle after cycle of wars and peace, peace and wars.

As the world spins further out of control—and the lunacy is off the charts—turn your eyes to Jesus. Let us continue to pray fervently for His long-awaited return.
