Does Animals have souls?

No, only humans, all the animals were created by God’s speaking power, Adam was “hand made” by God himself, then he gave him his breath of life, we are made to his image.

This is a fun question. I think there’s a couple verses that show that perhaps they do have spirits. At the end of day it is up to you to ask God if they do or not and receive that answer for yourself but here’s just some thoughts.
Rev 5:13
“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”Now Revelation is of course a tricky book to understand but just the fact of John saying the possibility of them at least being in heaven and praising God might beg that fact well how? They either are in spirit form praising God or perhaps some resurrected form which by definition is the uniting of the spirit and the exalted body. So a spirit is still required in this context. Though of course you might come to some other conclusions from this, I am simply presenting ideas.
Here’s another scripture I kinda like it for its use of socratic ignorance. Luke 12:6
“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?”
From this obviously we know God definitely has not for gotten about the sparrows hence the socratic ignorance. And it just shows how everything is important in the sight of God. If it didn’t have a spirit with some purpose to fulfill what why would God care about it?
And of course the creation story is great Genesis 1:25
“And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”
God made it. Its hard to assume God just makes certain things physically and others spiritually but we know God works in patterns. For me and perhaps you might see it differently, but for me he created all things first spiritually before he created it physically. Now I know that might be a radical idea but it logically follows at least to me and that is what I personally believe. Now I’m not saying from this verse it’s apparent he created it spiritually too but just the very fact he created it kinda begs the question why wouldn’t it have a spirit? Like what happens when they die? Will I not get to see my dog or cat in heaven? because I got both and I love both of them so dearly and I know they love me too first of all how can you love with out a spirit? And second I think I’d be depressed in heaven if they weren’t there with me so could you even call that paradise? Of course all these questions all reach a little beyond what the scriptures can answer for us but hopefully it makes some sense and at least helped a little. And I always suggest asking God himself and finding that answer for yourself. Good luck! ?

Would it be over populated there, since there are millions of fishes, chicken, pigs, cows which are being killed everyday for food consumption. -
No. God breathed life into Adam and Adam became a living soul. Animals are not created in God’s image as we are.

I believe there’s scriptural support for our pets joining us in heaven (whether they have souls or not).

The more interesting follow up question is: do all life forms return back to God, except fallen people who don’t want God? I personally believe that all other life forms that cannot be held accountable return to God in heaven.

There is absolutely no reference in scripture that would give even the slightest affirmation of a eternal soul in any animal.
Man is the only creature created by God who was made in the image of God that is a eternal being and has a eternal soul.
To say otherwise is to add to what scripture clearly shows is not the case.
If there was just one verse that said…animals have eternal souls then we could say they did…but there is none…not one reference. -

Neither animals or humans have souls. They both are souls. See the Hebrew in Gen 2:7 for humans and Gen 1:20, 21, 24 and 30 for animals. The Bible is God’s story of us. It is His love letter and story of how He redeemed us.
It starts with Creation. He breathed life into all on the planet. Then He made Adam and Eve. To make a long story short, they introduced sin and death into the world. That’s why we die, that’s why plants and amoeba die, and that’s why animals die; however, they are guilty of no sin. Animals feed, breed, and defend. Those are the three reasons for aggression we see. They are not borne from malice, hatred, or defiance of God. We subjected everything in the world to sin and death. That being said, because they are not guilty of sin, redemption is not necessary for amoebas or German shepherds. I don’t know if they have souls, the Bible doesn’t tell me that. I do know that they are not guilty of sin. Jesus sent demons into a herd of pigs (not an incidental action, I believe…pigs are known to be extremely intelligent) and sent them running over a cliff, killing them all. Heaven is reserved for those who have been redeemed by Christ. I love animals and have several rescued living in my home, so I’m not a hater…lol

Proof text in Genesis 1:24 NASB:
24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after [a]their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after [b]their kind”; and it was so.The same Hebrew word for life hayyim used in Genesis 2:7 to describe life in Adam. the derivative word for living being nephesh was translated into soul in the Greek New Testament. The specific mention of a soul was foreign to the times of the Old Testament but the concept is there.
Logically, animals have bodies and emotions (souls) which in the Greek is psyche or being able to think and express emotions even in a non intelligent way compared to humans. The only difference is that humans also have Spirits which connects humans to eternity either eternal life or eternal dead. While animals are not.
Think of how Jesus sent unclean spirits into the pigs. Which indicates animals don’t have them which means they normally have only a body and soul. A body without soul is inanimate or dead. Because the brain dictates it. If you get rid of the brain, the human is is clinically brain dead and the heart and organs works on a machine but they are technically dead or a corpse without the machine.

Soul=mind, will, emotion.
My dog definitely shows that he has a mind, he can get out of practically any yard you put him in. He has a will, especially when there’s unattended food where he can reach it. And he has emotions, you can tell when you get on to him for stealing said food, he gets really sad and mopes around. The problem with animals is that they lack the spirit which comes alive in us when we convert. This is the part they lack….but these are just my thoughts on the subject, maybe my doggo has a study bible stashed somewhere full of highlights and underlined and maybe he has a silently active prayer life, but I tend to doubt it! ? -

My thoughts:
1.Scripture gives no clear indication.
2. The argument that Christ did not die for their sins is only indicates they did not sin.
3. We do know some animals have “free-will.”
4. There are 3 basic concepts of free-will that can support sola gratia, Calvinism, Arminianism, and a modified Augustinian view.How we understand the breath of life Adam received and free-will goes a long way on how you will understand and answer your question

God loves animals.
There is no plan for eternal life for them, nor are they condemned to Hell.

Animals have not sinned and need no savior. That being said I like to believe that they all go to Heaven. Men however need to be saved.

Animals have what is appropriately called ” GROUP SOUL!” That is, many animals belong to, or share the same soul that, the number reducing as a he animals develop more and more!

The closest my understanding is the Bible says that ….outside the walls with the dogs and their will be nashing of teeth. I can’t decide if that is literal but I also know that when God created the Earth and us, He surrounded us by animals im the ultimate perfection of eden. He saved the animals on Noah’s ark. Will people see their pets in heaven… no I do not for a moment think they have souls and that’s biblical but God created animals to please man and sustain him so I believe whe we are on the perfect earth on steroids the animals will be magnificent and little fluffy might be there w grandpa to welcome you home to.

Any thoughts on Romans 8? It says creation groans and waits for the future glory. And animals are among creation.

This concept is not supported biblically, animals were not made in the likeness nor image of God.
Look at it this way, all of creation is obedient to Gods will, the dogs, plants, oceans, stars, galaxies, atoms, and even cats. The only thing that is not obedient to God’s will is us people. There will be animals in the new heaven and new earth, but nothing biblically supports the idea of them passing on to eternity. -
Have y’all read the scripture where Jesus encountered “Legion”… where the mans soul was demonized to the point of being crazy… also crazy strong…? The demons asked Jesus not to send them to hell basically because it wasn’t their time…
Well… Jesus threw their demon souls into the pack of Swine… Now if animals cannot have a soul… how could it briefly hold those, to their deaths…??? -
Another grammatical error! Plural subjects demand singular verbs! So, “animals” (which is plural) requires the singular verb “do”! Get it?

Salvation is for the souls.(1 Pe 1:9). However, when Jesus said “Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is drawing near,” He just only said it to humans and not on animals, because humans need salvation and salvation is for the soul. Therefore since animals don’t need salvation, animals don’t have souls.

Well, I’m not so sure about the above because Jesus did say to go and preach the gospel to every creature because the whole creation groans and travails due to the curse.
KJV Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Soul is life connected to Earth. Both man ans Animals have souls.
Spirit is life connected to the creator Himself and is eternal.

Animals do not HAVE Souls. They ARE living souls. Gen.1:20 is the very first reference to animals (before Man) to be living souls. Animals WERE NOT given an “immortal soul” 😉 Man DOES NOT have an immortal soul while alive today!! We are told to SEEK it (Rom.2:7) and at our gathering to be with the Lord in the Air, THEN will we “PUT ON” immortality (1st Cor.15:54)

If you read the first chapter in Genesis in Hebrew you will see that the animals that hath life have souls. The word life is nephesh which in Hebrew is soul

Madam, your origin is different from that of animals; all created things only meet on earth, in physical body garment for the purpose of self development at the end of which each return to their origin, absolutely! The affinity felt here between people and animals is on account of the homogeneous physical presence( the common physical element of the environment and the body,) which disappears once the physical body and environment are no longer there!
