Free will is very hard to prove when you accept a mechanical view of reality. The only thing you really need to say is that free will is a self evident, objective aspect of our individual experience, not unlike morality in this respect. If you start doubting certain aspects of your experience which seem the most obvious, then it casts doutb upon everything. For example, if I doubt the existence of object moral values and duties even though it seems so obvious to pretty much everyone living today, then there is nothing stopping me from doubting other things, such as my rationality, or my ability to comprehend the world. So, don’t doubt it…

If you’re able to reason then you have free will. Reason entails being able to consider between options. And if a decision has to be made it can only be made with the exercise of free will

But, the view that free will doesn’t exist is paradoxical at best, and incoherent at worst.
Let’s say you and are trying to reason through the premises of an argument, or that you are creating an argument yourself to argue some perceived truth. If free will doesn’t exist, then determinism is true, and if determinism is true, then all things occur due to purely natural processes which are not truth seeking. Let’s say the argument commits a fallacy which you did not see. You didn’t freely choose to create an incoherent argument, as the physical, naturalistic process behind your conscious experience created the argument, which ultimately means that the natural processes behind the universe lead to incoherence. If the natural processes behind the universe are not inherently logical grounded, then the universe is inexplicable, meaning that the “observations” which lead you to believe that naturalism is true and that free will is illusory are also illusory, meaning that the conclusion is also illusory (incoherent). This is an absurd conclusion, meaning that free will must exist to account for logical shortcomings and failures in reasoning.

The only proof you have freewill is that to your sin nature for only your sin nature can you freely obey. It is only when God’s grace overshadows you and He takes out your heart of stone giving you a heart of flesh do you then and only then aquire the freewill to freely obey Him according to His word. There is a difference in choice and freewill.

All men have wills and it is free only according to their nature.
Unregenerates don’t have the heart for God, so naturally he wills only that which is contrary to God and the things of God.Regenerates on the other hand has a new God-given heart, a new nature. But his old and former nature is still active. He now have two natures so his will can come from any those two, depends on which nature is he obeying to.

If I had free will, I would have the ability to make choices without repercussions of punishment. We have a will but that will is
exercised within the confinement or rules God has set forth. Choice of color, flavor, etc. Hardly a FW. ? -

Of coarse we have free will , but it is limited by our desires. The old nature never wants God. Only God has autonomous free will. We choose what we want, but our wants are in harmony with our mature.

In the Beginning, The Lord warned Adam and Eve about not eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, but they both made the CHOICE, to disobey The Lord and were cast out of the Garden, bringing Sin upon Adam, his descendants and all of humanity. And, yes … since the Beginning, The Lord allowed not only Man to make a choice to disobey His commands, but obviously, the Angels also were given the ability to make choices, as did Satan and his legion of Angels who chose to challenge The Lord and fell from Heaven!
However … as one great Theologian put it – though we mere mortals have been granted, by The Lord, the ability to make decisions (call it “free will” if you may) – we are still slaves to Sin, so we are not truly “Free.” The only ONE, who is truly Free – is The Lord, not Man ✝️

Take a look at the creation account in Genesis. God gave Adam and Eve the free will to choose to or not choose the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and of curse they chose wrong.

The choices that we make every day is of our own free will. I read in the comment section “Only God has Free Will”. In Genesis didn’t God say to himself, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit “ let us make man in our image and after our likeness”. If has free will and created us to be like him then in so many words he created us with a free will. You see free will is the creative aspect of humans. We were made to create and make decisions and worship God freely. So the proof of free will today is us, the basic human being. We are the example of free will because we are made in His likeness

My proof of free will is one word ‘SIN’. if we dont have free will then who makes the choices for us ? God ? God cant sin, so who predestined our choiced to the detail ?
God knows exactly what we will do in future but He didn’t make those choices for us we did.

God, and God alone has free will. ps 115:3 – Yahweh sits in the heavens. He does whatever he pleases…Only God, has absolute will to do and will anything. Men on the other hand, are bound in terms of their will. We cannot do as we please, at least not without consequence. Heb 4:13 – Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. And again in Rom 14:11,12 It is written: “As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will confess to God.” 12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. So, we might think we have free will because we can act in accordance with whatever our heart desires, but we will account for those actions, and that my friends, is what makes the idea of FREE will false.

God calls Assyria the rod of His anger in:
Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger; the staff in their hands is my fury! Isaiah 10:5 ESV
Assyria was one of the most wicked nations to ever exist, and God calls them His rod. Men need a supernatural transformation of their natures, or their wills will always be enslaved to choosing evil. Many assert that the human will makes the ultimate choice of spiritual life or spiritual death. They say that the will is altogether free to choose eternal life offered in Yeshua or to reject it. It is said that God will give a new heart to all who choose, by the power of their own free will, to receive Christ.
There is no question that receiving Yeshua is an act of the human will. But what did we say causes the will to act? The action of the will is determined by the mind, our thinking, our heart. And what is wrong with the human heart?
The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5 ESV
Your will is the servant of your heart, and your heart is evil.
as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Romans 3:10-12 ESV
No power forces man to sin contrary to his will, but the descendants of Adam are so evil that they always choose the evil. We can’t choose God because we are dead to spiritual things.
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV
Notice carefully what this verse says, “Natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God…”. That would definitely include His Word. Paul says, “He is not able to understand them.” Who is the natural man? The word “natural” comes from the Greek word psuchikos. Jude uses this same Greek word:
It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. Jude 1:19 ESV
Jude says, “worldly people, minded, devoid of the Spirit.” So, the natural man is the man without the Spirit of God. God’s effectual calling—regeneration, is absolutely necessary, because apart from it, man has no ability to understand or desire the things of God. Luther said, “It is not in your power to turn to God. If you think that it is in your power to turn to God, you have missed the whole point of The Reformation and don’t understand total depravity. It is not in your power to turn to God. You are a sinner, you’re dead, you’re eaten up with corruption. Every choice of yours is evil and not good. So how can we turn to Him who is light, righteousness, holy, and good?”
It is not man’s will, but God’s grace that must be thanked for giving a sinner a new heart. Unless God changes the heart, creates a new spirit, man will not choose to believe in Yeshua and receive eternal life in Him. A new heart must be given before a man can believe, or else the human will is hopelessly enslaved to evil human nature.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13 NASB
“Nor of the will of man”—the word that John uses here for man is andros, which speaks of a male, not the generic term for mankind. This word is often translated as “husband.” The NIV interpreted it properly as “husband” here. This probably refers to the father’s authority in deciding to have a child. Spiritual life does not come because of a human decision. As your will is not responsible for your coming into this world, it is not responsible for the new birth.
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. John 6:37 ESV Then Yeshua says, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me”—He is saying, “Though many may reject me, all that have been given me by my Father will believe in me.” How can Yeshua be sure that those who the Father has given Him will come to Him? What if their will is not to come to the Son?
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. John 6:44 ESV Some have tried to interpret the word “draw” here as “call or invite,” but that is not what it means. It means to draw by irresistible superiority. Some people would go so far as to say God calls or invites everybody equally and at all times. They would say that the Father draws everybody, and everybody can choose to refuse, back to “free will.” This view distorts the text. If this is all that Yeshua is trying to say, His words make no sense in the context of the discussion in which He spoke them. His words only make sense if the implication is that His objectors may not have been drawn. “No one, neither Jew nor Gentile, has the ability to come to Me.” Lastly, there is the word “unless.” This word is a “necessary condition.” Yeshua said that the necessary condition for someone coming to Him was God giving it to them. What does God give them? Ability. Simply put, God gives man the ability to come to Christ. Man, on his own, does not have that ability, man’s will is not free.
