Question for atheists. I’ve seriously only “met 1 atheist” on Facebook that was mature enough to admit NOT that they were wrong, but that they didn’t have an answer and even acknowledge that my view is REASONABLE to conclude even if not compelling enough for them. I just finished a debate with a devout atheist in THIS forum who made assertions and then ADMITTED he’d lie to push the narrative for atheism in the face of at LEAST reasonable evidence to the contrary. THAT is 1 for the books. THIS is the reason why I lose respect for many atheists, not all but some. I know that social media includes people with all kinds of standards, but for someone to actually admit they’d LIE to push a narrative immediately compromises any legitimate debate and they lose all credibility. NOW, I’m rude for calling him out. Whatever.

I think if we lie just for the sake of pushing our narrative, that’s not honest or rational.

Encountered an atheist myself recently. Gave him compelling evidence for Christianity, gave him reasons why the Bible is not to satisfy the standards of man. Then he proceeds to accuse me of being indoctrinated in childhood (which I used to think was a scare tactic), cherry-picking (laughable and an Ad Hom by the least) and was fooled into believing Christianity and implied that I am delusional. Then declares, evolution. Some dismissal tactic, huh?

I think if an atheist was to lie in order to prove their point they would be detracting from what atheism sets out to achieve.

I am an atheist as I do not have enough evidence to suggest there is a god.

I think the basis of atheism is not to say there is no God but rather to rely upon observable evidence and logic to suggest it is highly unlikely there is one.

The theist has the burden of proof as they make the claim there is a God.

Therefore, it would not be in an atheist’s interests to lie about valid evidence.

That’s an unfortunate position to take. And I think you’re right there’s little point in discussing with people who can’t at least be honest. Though it’s something I’ve seen on both sides of this debate.

I met several. Majority just deny the facts given and claim ad hominem fallacy. Some even call you trump supporter when it isn’t political. It is a form insult to shut down conversations without even calm down and think it over. Sad to say some really fall for accusation simply because they have no other facts to prove their errors. If they believe in scientist and facts, why would they deny facts when given? Looking at how they post, they have pride and won’t admit they are wrong.

I don’t want to be an atheist because they are so negative. I mean all Christians aren’t great all the time but generally I think we are definitely the happiest of all the religions. But we have a God who rose from the dead so we should be happy. I had to leave a Christian vs atheist group because they were just so mean. The only reason I could come up with is it’s a reflection of how they feel. Deep down they know there’s a God but they are so h**lbent on proving us wrong and it requires a lot of energy and so they’re mad/sad/depressed/etc

I had a conversation with an atheist regarding a moral issue, and he was able to clearly see that ethics are meaningless if there is no God. I appreciated his honesty.
