Suppose we obey Acts 2:38 than Matthew 28:19?

As long as your baptism a conscious response to what Jesus did for us, it doesn’t matter.

It does matter. That’s why Peter said when the men asked. What shall we do?
Peter responded and said “ repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
When you are baptized in Jesus name. You are baptized in the name of the father, son , and Holy Ghost.
Where in the Bible did they every baptize anyone in the titles?
Acts 19:2-6 they were baptized in the name of Jesus.
I would love to be able to show you in scripture all the times they were baptized in Jesus name.

And I would say to it’s a good idea to obey the whole book and not just some of the book! It goes hand and hand. You can’t have one without the other! 🙂

Acts 2 was not given to Even 1 gentile. Only the men of Israel. The first gentile gentile Peter gave the gospel to was Cornelius in Acts 10, a Jewish proselyte. Remember that God had to give Peter a vision and practically force him to go to a dirty gentile.

Matthew 28:19 is the commandment and acts 2:38 fulfillment

I thought that if you obeyed Acts 2:38 you also have obeyed Matt 28:19? Acts 2:38 looks like the by-product of Matt 28:19..

They are not mutually exclusive. When you obey Acts 2:38, you are obeying Matt. 28:19 and visa versa.

Acts 2:38 didn’t involve gentiles . they weren’t at the party yet until cornelious

If I told my son, “go take the trash out of the can, take it to the street bin, open the bin, put the trash in the bin, close the lid and come back” at noon. Then at 1, I checked back in with him and said, “hey, take out the trash” my son would be a fool to consider my orders contradictory and double the fool to ignore my detailed instructions for the later less stringent demand. Moreover, I would hold him accountable for not putting the trash in the bin or closing the lid. Our sinful hearts are always looking to pervert the gospel. There is no contradiction.

How about we do both? We baptize in the name of the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

The context of the word baptsim will settle this issue. For it’s very clear that Matthew and Acts have diverse theological emphasis. The question is, does the word baptism is just simply means water immersion?
Another usage of the word baptism in the Greco-Roman world is a transper of one’s property.
• In Romans 6:3-4, we can read baptism through his death.
• Baptism in Spirit 1 Cor 12:13.
•Galatian 3:7.The word baptism used by peter during his sermon in Acts 2:38 is not a water immersion in Jesus name, because Peter is not yet baptizing them but preaching Jesus.
The Jewish people understood what peter means for this is the common expression for conversion to through faith, before the earthly messianic ministry of Jesus and during early christian mission.
This the same hebraic expression used by Jesus in John 3:3-8.
Because the word bapstim has several meanings such water immersion, transfer of property or conversion.
In the Jewish belief, if a gentile want’s to embrace the Jewish faith he must be baptize.
Therefore; peter used the word baptism a figure of speech of conversion or putting their faith in Jesus. In simple english, repent and beleive Jesus all of you.Then in verse 41 we can read thousands are baptized then this is where the Matthew 28:19 fits.
