Did Jesus have half biological brothers from Mary?
I am asking this question to find the truth. I ask that people respect each other in their responses. This I not meant to put people down. It is meant so we can talk and allow the Holy Spirit guide us in the truth??? so please pray before you respond. Thank you

Actually the answer would be yes. We’re told in the Bible that Jesus had 4 brothers in James, Jude, Joseph and Simon. These would all have been half-brothers due to them not being the son of God as Jesus is.

Verse 25 makes it clear that Mary and Joseph had sex after Jesus was born.
James, the author of the book of James was a half brother of Jesus, his parents were Joseph and Mary.
Mark 6: 2-3 says, “The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, ‘Where did he get all this wisdom and power to perform such mirackes?’ Then they scoffed, ‘He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.’ They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.”
This verse even names the half brothers of Jesus and indicate he had half sisters too. They were half brothers and sisters to Jesus because Jesus was not conceived by Joseph, but by the Holy Spirit. The others, however, came into the world in the usual way, when Mary and Joseph had sexual relations.

It is abundantly clear from the Scriptures below that Jesus had at least four half-brothers (who are named) and at least two half-sisters who aren’t named.
Suggestions that they may have been cousins, in order to maintain the myth of Mary’s perpetual virginity are clearly ludicrous.

There is zero biblical text supporting the perpetual virginity of Mary. And there’s James and Jude who both called by name as brothers of Jesus in the Bible. So…. yes.

Calvin was wrong about a lot of things, and the logic in the quotes in these articles – even though they are from antiquity – is unsound. There are assumptions that having other children would have been ungrateful of Mary, that the fact that Jesus is Father God’s “only begotten Son” means that it seems fitting that He is Mary’s only child, and that Joseph wouldn’t dare touch his wife because she was found with That Child by The Holy Spirit! Nothing in the Bible says that she was a perpetual virgin. Helvidius is someone I want to look into now. Maybe he’ll only have been right to question this tragic error, but someone who can do so in a hostile atmosphere probably promoted other useful things, too. One other thing: Why does it matter to you that she must be a perpetual virgin?
The bible CLEARLY states:

This verbiage of KNOWING someone is a reference utilized to express sex multiple times throughout scripture.

Here we have 4 brothers mentioned by name and at minimum the mentioning of two sisters.
Catholics try to play scriptural gymnastics in order to keep their idol pure. They will argue against the scriptures in order to do so and they are so blinded by their unbiblical idolatry that they will deny the clear truth staring them in the face.

If those referred to as brothers of the Lord are not sons of Mary and Jesus is of course NOT a son of Joseph, then there is no brotherhood of any kind between Jesus and them. But the Scriptures call them brothers of the Lord. So should we believe Scripture or idle dogma ?
I have not held to the perpetual virginity of Mary, I still don’t necessarily. But this came up recently and I’m contemplating why Jesus told John to look after Mary while He was on the cross? If Jesus had 1/2 siblings that were also Mary’s why wouldn’t He have left her to one of his younger brothers? One explanation I’ve thought of is that perhaps his brothers were not yet believers so Jesus was making sure she was taken care of by a disciple. I’m curious as to others’ thoughts on the subject.
The perpetual virginity of Mary is believed unanimously by the early church fathers. It was an undisputed doctrine until recently. Even most of the early reformers believed in this. This is a recent heresy in the 2000 year history of Christianity.

This Scripture refutes the doctrine of the Perpetual Virginity of Mary. This doctrine means Mary was a virgin before, during, and after Jesus birth. If this doctrine is wrong, what else must be wrong? The belief that she did not have more children is wrong as well.

That is the evidence Jesus had brothers and sisters. The point of sex within marriage is for pleasure and to procreate. Why would she not have more children? When Jesus took off to do ministry, who do you think was taking care of Mary? It was only right for her to have more children.

In my teaching Mary had other children through Joseph. Mary was a sinner just like all other humans . She was picked by God to carry Jesus but as mentioned above conceived by the holly spirit

The perpetual virginity of Mary, Mary as Aeiparthenos “the ever virgin”

Sex in marriage is not sinful. Mary would have in no way defiled herself by having sexual relations with Joseph her husband. The entire concept of the perpetual virginity of Mary is based on an unbiblical teaching and on an unbiblical understanding of sex.

the phrase (heos hou-ἕως οὗ) followed by a negative always implies that the negated action did take place later .There is no valid reason why Matthew 1:25 should be the exception.
In Luke 2:7, Jesus is called Mary’s “firstborn” child. While the term prototokos does not demand unequivocally that Mary had other children, this term most naturally suggests that she did. If the sustained virginity of Mary is such a crucial theological point, why did not Luke simply say that she brought forth her “only” son?That certainly would have settled the issue.

Catholic apologists appeal to the fact that the term “brother” (adelphos-ἀδελφός) is sometimes used in a broader sense to mean cousins.
While adelphos (which means:out of the same womb) is employed loosely on occasion in some literature, in the New Testament adelphos-isἀδελφός is never used for a “cousin.”
The word anepsioi-ἀνεψιός signifies that relationship (Col. 4:10).

The alleged perpetual celibate state of Joseph and Mary’s relationship is contrary to the word of God. Marriage, as designed by God, was intended to bring a man and woman together as “one flesh” (Gen. 2:24;Mt. 19:5-6).
The idea of the perpetual virginity of Mary cannot be drawn from Scripture. It must be forced on Scripture, in contradiction to what the Scriptures clearly state.
