They can be oppressed, but not possessed
-
Christians are the main target.
-
If you’re referring to spiritual warfare I would say definitely. That’s why I put on the armor of God.
-
The word “possessed” in the Bible like Matt. 8:16 was erroneously translated, the original gk word is daimonzomai or demonized. So a Christian can be demonized (oppressed in soul or body) but cannot be possessed in the spirit.
-
Attack, yes. Possess, no.
-
Even more so, the closer we get to Him.
Put on the Armour of God, Ephesians 6:10-20 -
Oppressed but not possessed…
-
I’ve heard those who deny it. I’ve seen others try to draw a distinction between “oppression” and “possession”.
I’m a PhD student in theology who has studied the phenomenon and witnessed it first hand. Yes. Absolutely yes. Christians are fully susceptible to all tricks of Satan.
For those who might reply with mere questions (like the cohabitation of the Holy Spirit and demons), they need more than just questions. They need arguments.
To those who wish to reply with Scripture, there is nothing forbidding this occurrence. Demons can attack and even possess Christians in the same manner that they can tempt and cause sin.

Attacked/oppressed, yes. Possessed, no. Even Jesus had to deal with Satan himself while He was on Earth. But even though Satan physically tried him, he was unable to do any harm to Him.

1. The Bible does not, in any place, tell HOW a person becomes possessed by a ‘demon’ or devil.
2. The Bible does not, in any place, state that Salvation prohibits one from being possessed.
3. People who teach ‘knowledge’ on either of these things LIE and either repeat the lies told to them, or invent things to say, telling new lies. The Bible does say that prayer and fasting can remove a devil, The Bible teaches that if the person does not correct his life after being freed, he will be re-possessed by more than before.
The Spirit will lead a person to expel a devil, if the Spirit of God is with said person. We see this in the lives of the Apostles.Stick with scripture which teaches by example and open, direct teacheing.

After witnessing to a Buddhist couple in their own home filled with Buddhist paraphernalia, I was attacked at 12 midnight by a wolf in my dream who bit my hand. When I woke up, the pain was still there. Good thing I had a roommate to pray with.
In a similar manner, after praying for her worldly friends, a Christian friend also experienced a terrible nightmare wherein she couldnt breathe for a few moments.
I was told to make sure to pray for protection before ministering to others.

they cannot touch you, but they can do things to make you stumble in your faith. Trust in Jesus and call upon His name.
-
Thanks for your responses. Im reading them all.
-
If they take their eyes off Jesus
-
I believe so, the devil wants Christian to send the wrong message and to my understanding they come when we are weak in faith. God is stronger and i was told that if you feel a demon is near ask God to remove them
-
Oh yes…that’s why you have to watch and pray. ” Ephesians 6:10-18 Put on the armor of God and watch and pray at all times in the Spirit”.
-
Yes. All the way until you give up on Jesus..
All they want his pulling you out from the side you’re on cause they’re just on the opposite site.. -
Absolutely. A Christian cannot be possessed but they can be attacked. But they have no power and will leave if you call on the name of Jesus.

Answer: Yes. the deeper you go in Christ, the more you will be under attack. The deeper you go, the deeper the spiritual war. This is the nature of the war between good and evil, the Devine verses the demonic. The demonic is under attack by the believer going deeper in faith and action. Satan is revolted by us becoming Christ like, and Satan reacts violently against the believer. We are at all times at war. Note that the devil attacked Christ after His baptism. With baptism of the Holy Spirt the war got serious. You could say with baptism the war became full on. If the devil can tempt / attempt to deceive Christ, we are easy game.
In fact, when I started going deeper, deeper in faith and transformation, I was physically attacked in my dreams, and my life also fell apart.

Attacked, but not possessed. Paul spoke of a thorn in his flesh, and called it a messenger of Satan.
-
It’s called spirit attack. Yes, it absolutely happens.
-
No
-
Constantly
-
Tempted outwardly, sure. Full possession, absolutely not. The Holy Spirit dwells within us, possession over the Holy Spirit is impossible.
-
I would say probably yes. Being attacked is not the same thing as possession!
-
My answer is yes; my example Job
-
Yes, is called Spiritual Warfare
-
We aren’t exempt from attacks. Nevertheless we have victory through leaning on Christ and not our own strength.
-
Yes. Being possessed by? No. But attacked? Yes. Having seen it first hand and heard many first hand stories I do believe God allows us to experience it for Various reasons
-
Of course! Don’t you remember at the last supper that Jesus told his disciples that one of them was going to betray him and Peter said he would die for Jesus? Jesus told him that Satan has asked to sift him like wheat, but that he (Jesus) would pray for him. Anyone who thinks the Christian life is supposed to be without difficulty or pain or temptation is sadly mistaken. We deal with principalities and spirits and things unseen, not with just flesh and blood. Satan is the Prince of Darkness. Look at the book of Job. God asks Satan, “Have you seen my servant Job?” “Yes,” replies Satan, “but why wouldn’t he love you, you have blessed him with children, land, herds, and riches. Take them away and will he still bless you?” (my translation) And God allows Satan to destroy and kill all that he has.

Attacked? Yes
Possessed? No -
Plagued yes, possessed no
-
You see, under the guise of tolerance, they intimidate us into silence, but the are actually openly saying agenda is to transform society. Under the guise of tolerance, they bully us into in action by calling us intolerant: know you are at war, and know your enemy and their techniques
-
Of course
-
Does Satan worry about the unsaved?
-
we’re their main target.
-
Without permission, they cant do nothing > Lk 22:31-32, and what we go (Through) will help others.
-
Absolutely but God will only let them come as close as you have invited them. You will see them back off as you continue with God ???.
-
I know for a fact the answer is yes. It’s happened to me.
-
Peter was a Christian Jesus said Satan has desired to shift you like wheat but I have prayed for you after you will strengthen your brethren
-
Attacked… Yes. Possessed… No.
-
Yes…attacked. Possessed no.
-
Not without God’s approval. Case in point, Job. I think the better word for believers is “oppression”.
-
Attacked, yes. Possessed, NO
-
jesus himself was attacked
-
Of course. Sin is the door by which demons get authorization to interfere in your thoughts.
-
Christian can’t be possessed but oppressed
Christian cannot be possessed because our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 3:16(KJV) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? -
Yes but not possessed only oppressed
-
You need to get back to some basic biblteaching about the state of the dead
The dead lie unconscious until the day of resurrection. They sleep until they hear the voice of Jesus when he comes again to reign as king in Jerusalem .
Eccles 9.5 psalm. 146 -
There is no fellowship between light and darkness. So no they can’t.
