The ot believers were saved by faith in Christ too. They were saved by faith in His coming to earth NT believers are saved by faith in His death and resurrection for us.

Faith and grace of God. God promises a savior to come in Genesis 3 and in Isaiah 53. The promise of the coming Messiah
If you believed and had faith in God’s word and followed the word, you would fall under his grace. -
What about non Jews like Roman Greeks etc

By faith in Gods promises. The sacrifices were shadows of what was to come in Christ.

Jesus Christ was there in the Old Testament & they believed in Him even though some didn’t understand the Prophecies about His future Sacrifice at the cross.

We are saved by the blood of Christ. There is no salvation neither in Heaven nor on Earth without Christ. But we need to understand that the contain of faith changes in each dispensation. When I talk about Dispensation I am talking about different periods of God’s dealing from Genesis to Revelation.
Since Christ was not born during the times of Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joshep, David & Solomon etc etc, God has given them certain things to follow it trusting in God by doing certain command. And by putting their faith in God men are responsible to keep those command or instruction. This faith makes the blood of Christ to affect the OT saints who walks with God. The same is in the NT period or our present time, when we believe that Christ is our personal Saviour the blood of Christ affect us and takes away our sins.
In a simple way, the OT saints look toward the Cross when the NT believers are looking back to the Cross.
So, the Cross is the only salvation.

When Jesus gave his life on the cross, he saved everyone who believed past, present & future.

Humans are saved through the various covenants while no covenant can be signed off without Jesus dying at some point of history.
You spend money using credit card before you actually earn it. Covenants before Jesus are credited from the blood of Jesus. -
The same way we are saved today, by grace through faith, believing. The Bible says that Abraham believed and it was counted unto him for righteousness

So, if u didn’t live in isreal or not one of the 12 tribes, the rest of the world was doomed, because they didn’t know of Yah and were mostly pagan of some sort. Good question, I’m keeping tuned in, cool replies.

They looked towards his coming through the sacrificial system which was a picture of him. When he died he died for them, for us, and for those not born yet

No body was save before the Messiah came and die for man kind. That is why the Messiah when and preach to them at the bosom of Abraham for them to believe and be saved. Read the Gospel of Nikodemus.

By believing in God. Abraham the father of all of us who believe believed God first and God counted unto him righteousness which is another way of saying he got saved. Abraham original name is Abram which means father of on nation. Abraham means father of many nations. Who are the many nations his is father of? He is the father of every believer. God promised he’d make him the father of many nations and He did by saving us. Saved People will be from race tribe and nation according to Scripture

People in the Old Testament could have took an hold of the Everlasting blood Covenant found in Isaiah 56.

For the people of Israel, their sacrificial rites of the old covenant was like a credit card system. They make payment for their sins but the ultimate payment made good was on Jesus death. I’m not sure about other people outside of the old covenant but I think that they are judged on their conscience, or not. But I’m sure God will do what is right. You’d be surprised that in ancient China, they had the same sacrificial approach as the Israelites before buddhism and taoism took root. The emperor would once a year enter a holy of holies to sacrifice to a deity called Tian – Heaven.

Note that the Law never had any power to redeem. It was “a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ.” (Galatians 3:24). -

By believing in the progressive revelation as it came. Man has always had God’s law written on our hearts, and God wasn’t exactly quiet back then either. His word was still declared, and His fierce judgements made His name very well known. The Jews received the law as a guardian. A shadow, if you like, as well as multiple promises of a Messiah to come. Salvation has always been by grace through faith.

I disagree with those who say that was no salvation before Jesus came. If so, what about the main OT characters who walked closely with God (i.e. Noah who found favor with God that God kept him safe from the flood), Moses whom God gave the law to and even gave to him AGAIN after Moses destroyed the first set (I guess paperback wasn’t an option, lol). I think they DO spend eternity in the presence of God because the OT was about obedience to God and embracing His principles and values through faith in God and knowing there was a coming Savior, eve if they didn’t know when the Savior was coming. The NT is about salvation through Christ. No, I do not have anything biblical to back that up, but logical reason based on what I just said is enough for me, unless there is sufficient evidence proving otherwise. But to simply assert (like some above) have that there is no salvation prior to Christ withOUT any explanation of narrative to explain why they believe that is a serious disservice to many. Many say things just because that’s what they’ve learned through small group study, personal bible study or just repeated from the pulpit, but there ARE things taught from behind the pulpit that are NOT clearly stated in the bible. Example, age of accountability for children is NOT in the bible, but many believers are extremely passion about debating this point because it’s extremely difficult to reconcile the possibility that God would not embrace a young child into His eternal presence, especially when that child is too young to understand the gospel or any mature difference between right and wrong. The only thing on a 9 year olds mind (generally speaking) is what to build with his legos. The thought that a loving God might not embrace innocent children in heaven through the rapture is completely incomprehensible so they, again, debate this for all they’re worth with NO evidence at all.

OT and NT believers were all saved by the same method. All have been saved by faith in Jesus. The OT believers were saved based on their faith God wud send His messiah to save them. We are saved based on faith in what Christ did for us on the cross and our hope is in his life and resurrection
