Every problems and diseases are related to sin and SIN is related to spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6:12: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Its real.
‘MY’ opinion, this is the work of the Devil. For this is all they can do to us, specially for us Christians because they are illegal to this physical world and because we are filled by the Holy Spirit. So they corrupt our minds by reminding us our past troubles and sins (depression) and future problems that is just a possibility but not yet happened (anxiety).
God has freed us from such things (john 8:36, romans 8:2, galatians 5:1, titus 2:14)
I believe we can over power this by denouncing and casting out their works. We have the authority to do so because in genesis God gave us the authority to dominate everything on this physical world. (Genesis 1:6. And also in romans 6:6)
God bless
Change your thought processes. Negative self talk is the root cause of most of our phobias.
Depression is more likely a chemical imbalance rather than a cause of spiritual warfare most of the time.
It’s a spiritual issue that can’t be fixed by a pill. I would encourage all to draw closer to Christ, wrap your arms around the cross, and watch Brother, Ray Comfort’s “Exit” movie about suicide and depression. It’s free on YouTube. ?
It can be spiritual, physical, situational, chemical. And God knows how best to treat each one.
Mental illness
This disease is passed down from the parents to the their kids. Everything is cause either by original sin our sin or the sin of a group of people in the environment.
You can pray against it but their is no cure. There hasn’t been one since the start of time God can cure anything if He wants to. Mostvif tgevtimecwith mental Illnesses He doesn’t. By His gives us His grace . He goodness can override depression. It is the dangerous of the mental Illnesses because vprople can commit suicide. So pray a the time against that
Make sure the depression is or is not chemically based by seeing a doctor first.
Christians are not supposed to be depressed according to this verse:
KJV 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Terms and conditions apply. Biblical promises are the most recommended sacred text promises recommended by priests, pastors, and preachers. Biblical promises are not meant to cure or treat any problem be it physical or spiritual. The FDA has not evaluated any of these claims. Consult your physician if you think biblical promises are for you.
see a professional! Ofcourse prayer and bible reading can be helpful. BUT please never ever keep ppl away from a therapist/doctor!!!
Very simple but this is the most difficult thing to do… Come to Jesus always humble heart, allow him to control your life, enjoy His presence and read Bible. Maintaining our spiritul life is the most difficult thing to do but we need to in the grace of God. If you are depressed will you choose God or not, when you are discouraged we don’t have the strength to fight for it but trusting Jesus in Prayer is the best thing to do. The wrong approach of many people when they pray is, they want God to answer their prayer with their standard and expectations… Philippians chapter 4 will say, when we pray God will transcend all understanding, and most specially the peace of God will our hearts and that is what we need always. Many people are being depressed because they want to get what they want, but when they didn’t achieve it depression will come.
“Don’t seek for what you want. Ask what you need. ”
Christian Bascos
It’s wrong thinking which releases messed up chemicals in the brain which the body becomes addicted to, so you keep thinking more wrong thoughts to get more of the chemical drug you’ve addicted yourself to. It’s no different than a meth addiction except that it’s you’re own body rather than an outside source producing the chemicals.
The Bible tells us to focus on whatever is lovely. With practice, I’ve seen it turn people’s lives around.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in Heaven for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5:45
We live in the world, our bodies are flesh, we are subject to the curse of the fallen world.
Depression and mental illness are no different.
I believe no matter what, you need to pray about it first. Read your Bible and seek treatment that has Christian values. I suggest seeing a counselor that comes at with a biblical view. See doctors that take Christian beliefs seriously.
There’s no harm in medications if used properly by the direction of your doctor.
Depression??? You will find the cure at Calvary Hospital…The doctor name is Lord Jesus Christ.
Focus on whatever is pure good and lovely ?
But medicine can help at first
Eat right, exercise, read your Bible everyday, pray all day, fast, and seek help from a Christian that lives in Christ.
I think 1 needs to differentiate the difference between being tired or being without peace.

Trust in Jesus. God knows our sadness, but we must remember our desires accomplish nothing if our desires are in the things of the world.
Having this battle myself, my Christian therapist and support team says it can be emotional, chemical, as well as spiritual. Being spiritual doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve sinned, it may mean you are being sifted like wheat. The power to withstand the evil and see the good will be by the power of God and for His glory. David shows ALL the signs of depression and he is a man after Gods own heart. There is no shame in struggling, just in quitting to trust God after the pain.
Jesus said “my words are spirit and they are life” staying in the word and pursuing Him in it will bring life and peace.a departure from his word or even just a lazy attitude towards it will always result in feelings of depression and anxiety.at least that’s been my experience.spurgeon wrote an awesome lecture on depression that is eye opening.
I will ask him or her if they’re christians first. If yes, than I will give them antidotes to fight depression, read God’s word, pray constantly, call someone in church who you can trust.
But sometimes it could be genetic tho. Medicine is required.
Agree with jennifer ….many causes of depression . Does not necessarily mean lack of faith
Read the Bible every day. I am not just saying this. I had depression for years. Join https://www.facebook.com/groups/129702255041932
Pray and meditate on the scriptures
John 15:11 KJV
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
John 16:22 KJV
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Philippians 4:6-9 KJV
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. [9] Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Proverbs 10:22 KJV
The blessing of the Lord , it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Psalm 30:5 KJV
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning!
The cure for hopelessness is to reach out to our Great Hope (Jesus Christ).
Depression can be spiritual. It can also be a chemical imbalance. Good to pray and fast and see if that helps. If not, see your doctor.
It can have a spiritual and medical aspect to it, both of which of course must be surrendered to the Lord. For the spiritual aspect, make sure that you are doing your part in practicing spiritual disciplines and cultivating your relationship with God. As for the medical aspect of it, recognize that it is (especially if diagnosed) a sickness that should receive treatment. The Lord can also bless us through other people – if the route He laid out for you is for you to get treated, welcome that possibility too 🙂 In all things, put Him at the center. God bless.
I think there can be chemical imbalances in the brain/body which makes a person much more susceptible to demonic forces. I also think that people participate in activities which open the door for evil spirits to work. They often don’t realize the consequences of the things they are involved with.
I’m diagnosed bipolar. Hyper and/or depression.
I’m on two meds (Lamictol & Ability)
They’re helping me a lot.
There are countless believers and non-believers diagnosed with this. Many are veterans (like me) who have returned from the field of battle and have an extremely difficult time dealing or coping with things they’ve seen or done on the field of battle. Many of these same brothers and sisters ARE believers of Christ, that this doesn’t negate their battle or the demons they face. To negate that is insulting to their service and sacrifice. For those who do not know, there are at LEAST 22 veterans a day that commit suicide and many of us are convinced the numbers are higher than that. Faith in Christ does NOT mean that you’ll never experience spiritual warfare, quite the opposite. But many veterans have an extremely difficult time dealing with and coping with the memories left behind. Many family members have to deal with and accept the “broken souvenirs” that come home. I don’t have answers to any or all questions asked about war, but I do know that as a combat veteran, there are questions that those who’ve never worn a uniform can answer and to attempt to is an insult to those who have worn the uniform. JMHO.
I think that the Lord has told us what to eat. He has told us how to pray, He has told us how to hand our finances and who to socialise with and what to do with His word. If we obey and practice what He has said depression won’t be an issue. Yes we may have days where we don’t feel ourselves but it won’t be a perpetual state.
Depression is a horrible thing! My moms father was an alcoholic that brought terror in her life. So much that she was and still is full of anger and guilt. Sadly she beat me till my teen years, no one helped, I forgive my mother because she did not know better. I have sever depression but my faith has kept me with a forgiving heart. My depression in a way helps me want to love and protect others. When i feel down i do go to the Bible and it helps but still a daily battle for me. Thank you for bringing this typic up!
Depression is NOT healthy for any man. And our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ can heal the ones suffering from such.
If depression is a spiritual warfare issue: get out of it for your is to bring our the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Spend MOST of your time in praise, worship and prayer. Leave the spiritual warfare to our Lord Jesus Immanuel Christ. Delight of our Almighty God and see what happens moments later.
Jack Johnson and you are the perfect human being?
I’m only a nurse, but – there can be all sorts of reason behind it. Not always because of spiritual problem, but can be a result of physical, emotional, psychological trauma.

It is terribly cruel to immediately conclude that someone with depression has a spiritual problem. That is just adding another layer to their depression. They need compassion and medical treatment, not more condemnation. It is very common for depressed people to feel God could never love them or save them. They need reassurance.
There are many causes. Physical, emotional and spiritual.
I think anyone with depression needs to answer it for himself or herself. No one can tell you that with 100% precision. Do you know that Martin Luther was also struggling with depression? Depression could be genetic or spiritual or past abuse or many other reasons. But as Christians we know we will overcome anything in this life for Christ has given us His victory, that we become more than victorious. Thanks God!
I read once that this lady who loved the Lord and read His Word everyday still felt depressed.. it wasn’t until she surrendered to what God was calling her to do that she came out of it.. most of the time what God is calling us to do seems way out there and we think we aren’t qualified for it.. Moses didn’t think he was. But when we give into the Lord He knows exactly where our joy lies.
It is spiritual warfare that is manifested mentally. In these situations God gives us help in different forms, those who have been through it, those who can strengthen us with their testimony, and licensed medical professionals. Never be afraid to reach out to either. Likewise, never be afraid to take it to God in prayer. Pray through the Psalms, and through places in the Bible that will help.
The brain is just an organ susceptible to disease like any other.
It can be either, or. God is willing and able to heal if we ask. If it does not go away, seek medical help. One never knows the cause of depression.
Depression is demonic. There are different kinds which is why people often misunderstand what is going on.
We can be under heavy dismay disapointment and despair but these are not necessarily the “clinical ” type of depression.
True depression feels like a removal of purpose and no hope at all. There is a force keeping the person down and the only thing they want is to avoid reminders of a good life.
Depression can be broken through prayer of faith and fasting. I have had to walk around the room barely able to speak the name of Jesus through clenched teeth until, in a single instant, depression left me like a breeze had blown in.
I was then completely restored to a good outlook and no heaviness.
Rebuke your problems in the name of Jesus. Tell them to leave.
My sweet friend was just interviewed on a podcast that may give you advice and encouragement. She struggles with clinical depression, is a faithful Christian and prays her story will help others and bring glory to God. She also has a blog and shares the link at the end of the podcast.
