God speaks differently to different people. Everyone hears from God through His word. Some hear an audible voice, He speaks through people, He speaks through dreams, He speaks through visions.

  7. Anthony Delmedico says:

God speaks in one’s inner ear. It is not typical for God to speak audibly.

As for God’s word in scripture:
    2 Timothy 3:16-17 say:

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Therefore, scripture edifies, and in a certain God speaks through it, but not directly.

God speaks to your spirit (your conscience, intuition and communion with him) also through his word to your soul (your intellect, emotions and will) his word is your conformation that it is God

Read John chapter 10 and Hebrews 2:1… I don’t deny that God can do in a miracle way how He speaks to us but we need also to be very careful, because there are many people says they can hear God and prophecy something. If that is the case, why we don’t ask them to write another canon of the word of God. Because they can hear audible the word of God. We need to be very careful, and the answer of God whenever we pray is His peace will guard our hearts because that is what we need.

If you want God to speak, open your Bible; if you want Him to speak audibly, read the Bible out loud!

I think the voice of the Lord is heard differently with every person, but it is ALWAYS reflected through the Bible. If we are hearing things and they are not in the Word of God, ask God to remove them from you.

  16. Kristen Park says:

He does still speak audibly but often it’s spirit to spirit and even then not always in words. He’s never not speaking. We’re just usually not listening.

  17. Tommy S. Hancock says:

If you hear this voice, ask to see His credentials – His ID.

I prayed for my son all the time….the most difficult prayer a mother can pray….Please God, do whatever it takes to bring him back to the “fold”. My son died when he was just 31 years old (4 yrs ago). One night as I was “watching” tv (not paying attention but thinking about my son) I heard the Lord say to me, “You asked me to whatever it takes. I did.” Needless to say, the tears came and I know He answered my prayer!

Be careful because even a demon of satan will play tricks on you to think you’re hearing God that way.

I struggled with this for some time especially when I was a beginner Christian. Many people in church would say God spoke to them. And I thought why doesn’t God speak to me? Then I learned the value of having Quiet Time with Him to not just speak but mostly listen to the Holy Spirit. To let go of self-reliance or any sin that may be hindering you. Repent. Surrender to God. Take time. Do this daily and with reading of the Word. Ask for His presence and don’t stop asking. Then it will come and you will realize God has always been speaking, He never stopped. It is our ability to hear Him that we need to strengthen. Don’t neglect personal time with the Lord in your secret place. And He will be revealed to you more and more. When it happens, OBEY what the Spirit tells you. Get rid of unbiblical practices and those that don’t please the Lord. Guard your heart and mind from impure things. I’ve learned that the more you disobey, the more your spiritual senses will be calloused and this will affect your hearing of God once again. God bless
