We know God is all knowing. Thought provoking passage; how did it not enter His mind?

I think you are confused of what the verse says. Judah was indeed doing things that are evil in the sight of the Lord, which can be seen in the entire book of Jeremiah. In the highlighted text, it just says that what they are doing is not what God has intended for them to do. It did not come to God’s mind for them to worship idols – notice God said in the also verse “which I did not command them” before the highlighted texts. There is a difference between “I never thought you will do this” and “It’s never my intention for you to do this”

This is metaphorical. -
It’s because such an act is so far from Him.

The Scriptures tell us that God forgets our sins! That’s really good news for me!

The English from the original Hebrew says: “…the fire of Molech; which I did not command them, nor did it come into My heart, that they should do this detestable thing.”
The definition of ‘command’ 6680 in Strong’s, is to constitute, enjoin or appoint.
The modern translation gives an impression the original Hebrew doesn’t. The Hebrew completely removes the quandary with regards to God’s omniscience.
