I would ask, is Romans 1:19-20 the best defense for those who say there is no God

They don’t believe in God or The Bible at all. So you can’t just use scripture to somehow prove that. That would be circular reasoning. 🙂

Yes. Sums it up. Men “suppress” the truth. It’s a defiant, willful, and volitional act. No excuses.
-
No, it provides no evidence and is basically the “look at the trees fallacy”.
Also, what a ridiculous statement is “His invisible attributes are clearly seen”…. -
Foolishness to them that are perishing
-
You/We should be the defiance.
-
It’s what Paul used as Sprinboard in Acts and I am sure he wouldn’t have placed it in Romans if it wasn’t relevant. It works for us.

I believe this is for the idol worshippers. Instead of worshipping God they worship idols.
-
People say there is no God by their mouth but in their heart they know there is God!!
-
Not a defense
But Romans 1 is a picture of a society that had turned away from God.
Then God turns away from them
The end result is a snapshot of what society looks like when it reaches its inevitable conclusion.
So America, what shape are you in? I’d say the last.

I don’t think there is a single proof to defend that God exists, there is no “smoking gun”. It requires a persuasive argument based on logic and reasoning, Romans 1:19-20 can support that argument eventually though.

Well the scriptures referenced believers who became ex believers.
To clarify that, the Jews who rejected Christ became ex believers. -
no.. ur lifestyle?

Nature is the best evangelist of God – Jonathan Edward.

(1) there is no argument that atheists will accept for why God is real, thus (2) we can only show them why they refuse to accept the existence of God.
“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.”
John 3:19 ESV -
Rom 1 and Ps 19 are both good. God gave the creation as proof of his existence. Jesus said the only sign will be the sign of Jonah. He said if you have seen me you have seen the Father. Wives are to live the life of a christian so their unbelieving husbands will see Christ in them, even so God ordained man to preach the Gospel in part probably because men can see what God has done in their life too. Ultimately we are a living witness of the power of God because of our transformation. Jesus said in John 7 If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself. Their problem is rebellion. When I meet a person who can’t find God I put them on a 40 day fast of no sin and bible reading asn tell them to cry out to God and he will reveal Himself to them.

I think it will depend on the listener. Preaching means to use common words/ideas that the listener understand. We never know which arrow can pierce his ?.

Do not cast your pearls before swine. We must defend our faith, but we must not strive. Be lead by the Holy Spirit. The fool says in his heart there is no God.
-
No it’s hard to use the Bible in general because people who don’t believe in God don’t believe in the Bible
-
So we must say what the Bible says but use outside sources to confirm what the Bible says
-
tell them to look around

Psalm 19
-
people that dont believe in God generally dont want to be accountable for their actions..that would be nice if it were true
-
Believing not thinking it is foolishness.
-
I think it’s solid. Because it teaches that even though atheist reject God’s existence, Romans 1 teaches they still know he exists. Because he has made it evident to them.
The truth is God exists, They only “suppress” the truth in unrighteousness. -
God’s word is God’s word whether it is believed or not. His truth is still truth whether it is believed or not. Pray that God would open blind eyes to see and deaf ears to hear and hard hearts would be plowed

Romans 1:20 is a widely misinterpreted verse. If you take it in context of the preceding text, beginning with verse 16, you’ll find that the gospel (not nature/creation) is what reveals his eternal power and Godhead. It is the power of the gospel that leaves people without excuse as to God’s identity.
There is enough evidence within nature to demonstrate the existence of a higher being, but God chose the preaching of the gospel to reveal his identity and salvation to mankind.

The scriptures are supernatural, how can we know the power!!! Jesus never called or convinced people to reason, he called them to repentance by their sin!
-
Lolol

There are many arguments for God’s existence and I would call that Riom.1: 18 – onward, is more of a warning than a Persuader.. scripture repeatedly says “he that has an ear let him hear”.. what the holy spirit is really saying is many will not listen because they don’t have a spiritual ear

Jereme without faith you are doomed already and that’s what God says. Your on dangerous ground
-
The answer is yes
-
Prior to coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
-
Absolutely
-
Whole Bible and oral history
-
Evidence would be the best defense.
-
There is no defense for thise who believe there is no God.
You would fair better to ask them how they have come to that conclusion and hopefully find some holes in their logic to make them bigger by showing them the flaws.

The father from the prodigal son didn’t leave the house to find his son with the pigs. He only left the house when he saw his son walking towards him.
We can show ourselves how foolish atheists are, but they will never see it for themselves until they want God and turn towards him.
These apologetic Facebook groups have made me extremely cynical of the effectiveness of apologetics. At least the atheists who come around here are not open minded. They’re extremely close minded and are either unable or unwilling to accept good arguments.
That actually applies to all atheists I know. Agnostics are great. They’re the ones who are willing and able to recognize a good argument. I guess that’s what makes them agnostics and what makes atheists atheists. Theists are the ones who are not only willing and able to recognize a good argument, we will accept it. That’s why we’re theists.
Atheists are unable or unwilling to recognize a good argument.
Agnostics recognize goods arguments.
Theists accept good arguments.
That’s the cause for each becoming who they are in terms of these categories.

Fulfilled prophecy works well. I don’t mean the things that could’ve been fulfilled by the will of people, but inexplicable things. Really, whether or not one should even engage with the questioner depends on the one challenging. Are they closed to the possibility of God? It’s usually about the will, not the intellect. Sometimes we’d just be throwing our pearls before swine and end up hurt from it.
-
Look at it in terms of 2 Corinthians 4:4
-
everyone knows there is a God in their heart God has show to everyone he exists, some suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
-
Scripture is not evidence of God. Scripture is the god claim, which requires evidence.
