Brothers, need your help to Counter a confusing doctrine. Please share your views.

Brothers, I have recently seen a post in many of Christian Facebook pages, mentioning Bapitism in the name of Jesus alone is valid. That person who posted that content only by selectively upholds acts 2.38. He also says that Matthew 28.19 has been said to apostles, but not to us. He also says that we should only listen to apostles said in acts 2.38 (Baptism on Jesus’s name). He also says acts 2.38 Baptism is only valid Baptism.

That person also denies the Trinity (Seperate mentioning of personalities of Trinity).

    – Which other biblical baptism Do you know apart the one in the name?
    – trinity is an assumption. He can deny it, cause its not consistent with scripture .
    -I just don’t agree with that person on Matthew 28:19 as being said to the apostles only. In its context yes, it addresses the disciples.

    I give you this question, which you preferred to fallow the command of Jesus or a Word from the apostle Peter? Jesus command, “go into all the world, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…or Peter said, ” be baptized among you in the name of Jesus”.. Apostle Peter was imphazing or admonizing at this moment that they need to be one with Christ..

    Ahhhh.. congratulations you’ve had your first encounter with Oneness theology. Very likely a Pentecostal or someone from a Charismatic church. This is probably one of the top debate topics of all Christian doctrines. I have seen great well educated arguments from both sides but there is just too many things you have to ignore to make Oneness right in my experience. I know you particular question is about baptism but understanding their general philosophy may help you with understanding their reasoning for Jesus only baptism to counter it. I’d YouTube debates on it if I were you.

    Jesus told the Apostles to go baptising in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

    Therefore He said we should be baptised in these three names – that, however, does not say anything about the relationship between them.

    There is no argument that the Father, Son and Spirit are realities. What is argued is the relationship between them. The “trinity” is one attempt to explain the relationship between them which, to be honest, is probably indescribable.

    Therefore, do as Jesus said and baptise in all three names, and worry about the relationship between them (or don’t) later.

    Jesus word have the greater authority. baptism “in the name of” someone can have about 4 meanings in Greek “on the authority of” according to the command of” there is no record of the early church baptizing any other way than triune forms. I researched this for 2 decades. Jesus name baptism is not correct it is Sabellianism. .

    Who’s name was the thief on the cross baptized in?

    Point is Roman 10:9 says a confession that Jesus is lord and belief In The resurrection will save you. It doesn’t mention who name you have to be baptized in. Although scripture says the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

    Lastly water baptism is more of a public confession. See Romans 10:9. When you are saved you are also baptized with the Spirit. See 1 Corinthians 12:13, acts 1:5, Matthew 3:11, acts 11:16, Luke 3:16. I can give you more verses on baptism by the Spirit but I think you get the point.

    The fact the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are not accepted as One is reason enough NOT to take this individual seriously. There’s is also nothing complicated about understanding baptism. It is a physical act that has spiritual connotations. Basically, the washing away of sins and renewing of your life under the rule and guidance of God. We spend too much of our time on trivial technicalities, when that time can be spend praising God and moving closer to Him. Should there be any clarity to any matter required, just follow Jesus’ teachings. He spoke in parables (using real life examples) so that we can understand clearly. This is the reason the term ‘through Jesus’ is used as all we need to do is follow His example.

    Jeswanth John, Matt 28: 19 is the only Biblical instruction for water baptism. There are no Biblical records of a baptismal service in the Bible, so you cannot find anyone saying, “I baptise you in the name of Jesus”. The Biblical Geek meaning, “Be baptised in the name of Jesus”,in Acts 2: 28 and Acts 8: 16. Is, “Being baptised into Jesus”. See Acts 19: 3. The Holy Spirit baptises us into Christ, [His body, 1 Cor 12: 13. And water baptism is an outward sign of an already inward salvation experience, It’s a person identifying with the death buriel and resurrection of Jesus. So, It’s baptised INTO Jesus, NOT in the name of Jesus only.

    Jesus says to baptize in the NAME of the Father Son and Holy Spirit
    The Apostles understood the Name of the three titles as JESUS CHRIST They totally obeyed Jesus unlike many so called Christians.

    Main thing to remember is baptism isn’t required for salvation. Take the thief on the cross, he never had time to get baptized and was the first person to walk thru the gates with Jesus.

    And be baptised as a result of salvation. That’s what it means. Not the only baptism that saves is by the Holy Spirit.
