  46. Jim Koverman says:

We were loved by God the Father from the moment we were created or born. But loving Father will do virtually anything for their children. This is with imperfect humans. So imagine the heart of God, the perfect Father, and His love for His Creation; His children.

The challenge is that sinners were unable to get to heaven, as a price had to be paid for their sins; for every sin. Each sin is a revolt against the dictates of God, and every sin deserves to be punished by God. So, unless God intervenes and finds a way to divert his punishment away from sinners, we are all doomed to damnation. That’s why God sent his Son into the world. Jesus, the Son of God, took upon Himself this penalty. Being perfect, sinless and being both God and man, only Jesus could qualify to die as an exchange for our sins. Jesus suffered the punishments of God that are due for every sin.

We see in the Bible that Jesus was involved greatly in the creation of man (John 1 1-3) And it does make sense that the creator giving up their life could be a propitiation fro the created – for the sins of all mankind.

Christ came among us as man and God so that he could take the punishments for our sins upon Himself on the Cross. He became a penal substitute on our behalf so that we don’t have to.

It’s both And!
