Can a person be saved without works?

We are saved by faith alone. Out of that saving faith good works will flow or your faith is a dead faith.

I would say a person is saved apart from works, but works are a natural outpouring of a saved soul.

Yes but also no. Praying a prayer to accept Jesus into your life, which is by definition an action/work but then again, that’s really just semantics.

Everyone’s gonna have a different answer to this. And everyone’s gonna have a different definition of “works,” and their own convictions regarding the depth of those “works.”

Yes, the thief on cross got saved at the last moment, but he didn’t get a chance to do good works, but got saved before he died.

Works are the evidence for the Saved man!! It’s like 2 sides of a coin.. you can’t separate both!!

Salvation is not a work, it is a gift. Works are the by-products of having been redeemed and pulled from the clutches of the evil one. Without first having been brought to life by the grace of God, works have ngo eternal value for the future. Unsaved people can be very nice and do a bazillion “good things,” but if and unless we are regenerated by the power of the spirit, good works are good only for the present.

Yes. The Bible is very clear that salvation is by grace through faith alone in the Lord Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9).
But salvation produces good works.

We live by faith . Without works faith is dead. Without works is unbelieving. How can we be saved without works?

Genuine faith demonstrates in works, the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It’s not faith + works but it’s the faith that leads to good works

How can this World know that we are saved, it’s only through our good works. And we also have a promise that our good works will be remembered.

Good works should be based on what Christ has done for us on the Cross, it should be for His glory showing ourselves as His disciples, not with a motive to be remembered or rewarded.

Works are merely evidence of our faith. They do save us. The thief crucified next to Christ is a perfect example of someone who was saved by faith alone.

Most people read Ephesians 2:8 and leave it at that, but if you continue to read the next two verses you get the full meaning and the its context, 8For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

If you have Jesus Chirst in you good works will flow from you naturally with out thinking , works to me is a by product of salvation.

The bible says it is not by works that we are saved. We are saved by grace through faith. So yes, because we aren’t saved by works.

Faith that never produces works is as dead as a body without the spirit. (James 2:26)
A man may say (James 2:14) he has faith, but only if he can show (James 2:18) he has works can we see (James 2:22) that the claim is genuine. (cf. 1 Jn 2:4)
The “works” in mind here are expressions of genuine love for brethren without partiality. (James 2:8, 15-16)
This makes the message of James identical to the message of John who tells us that those who claim to love God and do not love their brethren are liars. (1 Jn 3:10, 14-18; 4:20) -
A person is always saved unto good works.
However, there will always be exceptions. The thief on the cross was unable to do anything but die after he was converted.
If we remain alive after conversion, we are expected to live for Christ and to walk by the Spirit and to put to death the deeds of the flesh. All of these things are good works and as we progress we will produce more good works. None of these save a person. They are a result of the Holy Spirit working in and through us to produce what he said he would.

The thief on the cross didn’t get opportunity to live in this world, he had to die once but the second death has no claim on him, but if he would have lived he would bring many other thieves to Christ, he would not be idle like many of us.?

” GOOD WORKS ” will follow meaning be the result of a sincere changed heart! This is the new you, indwelled with the holy spirit working inside and through us doing our duty as a member of the body! -

I doubt the thief on the cross had time to do any works. So what I would have to say is no but works will be the evidence of your salvation.

Paul says:
“A person is saved by GRACE, APART from works”We are saved by Grace. Not works. Works are an outward expression that flows from the new heart and desires we are given. In fact, when the criminal hanging on the cross next to Jesus said:
“Lord remember me when you enter onto your kingdom”
Jesus replied:
“Surely I say to you, tonight you will join me in paradise”
The criminal had no chance to do “works”. He was nailed to a cross and Jesus granted him Grace and salvation as he was dying.

When you consider salvation..what God did for You…there should be no consideration of your works.. Martin Luther stated there are 2 gospels: in the right one, you are saved without works by faith and in the wrong one you are saved by faith and works. As u believe the true Gospel your heart will soo overflow with love, I might even guess a few works of love to God and man may pop out by God’s grace! This is the only true Gospel..mans logic in every other false religion puts man in the equation thus insulting God to His face..He only wants gratefulness and relationship from us! Dont fall prey to fear and Gods word will reveal these “wonderful things” from Hid law off limits to the arrogant.

Everything needs to pass through the litmus test of the thief on the cross.

We are saved through faith unto good works.

When you love God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, you will automatically want to do good works. It comes naturally to a believer. Your good deeds enrich your life as you enrich others. And you cannot possibly do for God as much as He has done for you. Works alone will never get you to heaven but if you have no good works that make your life happier and more fulfilled, then maybe you need to rethink your relationship and contact with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. When we do our work, it should always be in God’s name and for His Praise.

God loves accepts and saved us for our faith just as we are… but he loves us too much to keep us there… so he places His love in our hearts and loving others through works is a by product…but even if we did absolutely nothing in good works we are still saved by our faith. Ephesians 2:8-9

Yes. Salvation is a work of God “not by works, so that no man can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Yes. Take a person who has a deathbed conversion. He/she would have no “works”, but would be saved.

No, you need both faith and works to be saved

Well therein lies the issue. If one has been saved it is unto good works. First cam salvation apart from works. Once saved the works of faith, which is love (Galatians 5:6), so that faith without love is dead.

Yes. But you do good works as a result of your salvation. We are saved to do good works. Not other way round.
