The bible says flat and round – it never says 3rd or spherical – the earth is described with a domed vault overhead with a window to the heavens separating the waters above from the waters below and is on 4 pillars.

Augustine made it clear that if we discover something to be a fact that does not jive with scripture it is our interpretation of the scripture that is wrong. Not the fact.

Scripture does NOT teach a flat earth. There was no such word as “oblate spheroid” so Job used the word “circle”. Besides, if the earth really was flat, cats would have pushed everything off by now.

Does it matter? The Bible isn’t a science textbook. It’s meant to teach the history of God in this world, God’s law, and Jesus. It’s meant to teach lessons of theology. Genesis went into elaborate details to create a world we now have scientifically proven isn’t true. But it doesn’t matter. The Bible was written only to what they knew at the time. But we’re not supposed to get things like “The earth is flat and is in a dome” out of reading the Bible, we’re supposed to get that Jesus died for our sins and by faith in him we are saved. God still made the world, the Garden of Eden still existed, the flood still happened.

The few verses that some have claimed to be evidence of flat are either poetic verses not meant to be taken literally or are actually common phases at the time meaning something else
For example “every corner of the Earth” can basically be interpreted “every nook and cranny”

Well if you see the figure or a face of the earth in the outer space you well see the earth is circle not flat, you can search it in google or you tube…there are other people who says that our planet is flat really?
If you look your Bible you see it clearly that the earth was circle not flat. i give 1 verse in the Bible that have strong evidence that our world is circle

I have been on this topic for years now. And one thing for sure. The earth is Not a Globe. IMPOSSIBLE.
Genesis/Job/Isiah/Psalms all support Flat earth.
Or else explain the two great lights in genesis(the moon is a different light not a refelctor) and the whole creation as is. Or Explain (And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day. In Joshua 10:13 ESV)

WELL, LOOK WHAT I FOUND!
Isaiah amazing as that happens to be just happens to use the word for BALL in:
KJV Isaiah 22:18 – “He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a BALL into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.”
The Hebrew word is – duwr: meaning a “ball” or “sphere.”
So, If Isaiah had meant a sphere in 40:22, he knew of a perfectly good word he could have used.
Seeing he did not calls into question the notion that when he used “circle” he really meant “sphere.”

I want to state that I understand that the shape of the earth isn’t of any importance in regards to salvation, nor do I believe the earth is flat.

For all you biblical inerrantists who think you have to reconcile passages that teach the earth is flat and a sphere, I think you need to reconsider your idea that everything must jive in perfect harmony because an all-knowing deity should do a better job of inspiration.
The very fact that the Bible teaches a flat and spherical earth should cause you to, instead, give up the presupposition that the Bible is the word of God inspired without error.
Of course, if you let one crack in the foundation, you are afraid the whole thing will crumble to the ground. Sorry, to break it to you. Maybe it should.

Truly I thought that in this wonderful time of man going in space the moon and satellites and all the pictures have been taken from space back to earth it still amazes me that people will argue the point of a flat earth even from the highest building in the world you can see the curvature of the world . Flat earth is just a bunch of hot air and I’m by no means trying to hurt anyone’s feelings but there is way to much proof to Doubt that the world is round.

Revelation 7:1 says, “I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth.” In writing this, the apostle John was using idiomatic language—the “four corners of the earth” refer to “every distant location.” We use the same idiom today; for example, when we speak of Olympic athletes coming from the four corners of the earth to compete in the games, we mean they are coming from all over the world.
The book of Revelation is full of non-literal descriptions and symbolic language. To press Revelation 7:1 into a hyper-literal interpretation makes no sense. John simply says that, at one point during the tribulation, God will cause all wind to stop blowing. The “four corners” encompass the cardinal directions—north, south, east, and west. All wind will cease at God’s command.
Psalm 75:3 quotes God saying, “When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.” Other passages also refer to the earth’s “pillars,” such as 1 Samuel 2:8, but in no case should the language be taken literally. The book of Psalms and Hannah’s song in 1 Samuel 2 are poetry. The writers liken the founding of the earth to the constructing of a house, and their descriptions are comparative (i.e., metaphorical), not literal. The point is not that the earth is flat but that the earth belongs to God; it is His construction, and He guarantees its stability. God’s “pillars” will not move, and His “roof” will not cave in. Even when the moral order of the world seems to have crumbled and people are overcome with fear, God will not fully withdraw His sustaining power.
What about the Bible’s references to the “ends of the earth” in Deuteronomy 13:7; Job 28:24; Psalm 48:10; Proverbs 30:4; and other passages? Does a reference to the “ends” of the earth teach that the earth has an edge and is therefore flat? We’ll take Deuteronomy 13:7 as representative of all the passages: here, Moses warns the people of “the gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other” (ESV).
A couple things can be said about the phrase the ends of the earth to show that it does not refer to a flat earth. First, that phrase, like the four corners of the earth, is idiomatic. We don’t expect people to take us literally when we speak of going “back to the drawing board”; neither should we force a literal interpretation on “the ends of the earth.” When biblical writers speak of the “ends of the earth” (28 times in the KJV), they are simply referring to “the farthest reaches of the inhabited world.”
Second, the phrase the ends of the earth at times refers to people, not to land. For example, Psalm 67:7 says, “May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.” In this verse, the ends of the earth references the people who inhabit remote and distant places (see also Psalm 98:3 and Isaiah 45:22). Obviously, in this context the phrase is metaphorical and cannot be used to depict the earth as having a physical edge. The same phrase, used elsewhere, should also be considered figurative.
The Bible does not teach that the earth is flat. The references to the “earth” in the Bible are often not references to planetary earth but to a portion of dry land bound by water. For example, Genesis 1:10 says, “God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas” (ESV). “Earth” is mentioned as distinct from “Seas” and cannot refer to Earth as a planet; the same Hebrew word for “Earth” is used in Deuteronomy 13:7 and the other passages listed above.
While the Bible does not teach that the earth is flat, neither does the Bible explicitly teach that the earth is spherical. Some passages do allow for a spherical earth, such as Job 26:7 and Isaiah 40:22. In any event, the Bible is far from affirming a naïve or unscientific understanding of the earth and the solar system.
