   To be fair, on Matthew 18:11 in the NIV there is a note referencing the verse and what is said in it, albeit not officially included in the text.

   The NIV is based on much older and more accurate manuscripts than the kJV. The KJV contains verses and passages that were added to manuscripts in the 14th century and later.
   All Bible versions have problems.

   KJPreferred. My favorite Bible right now is the KJVER, King James Version Easy Read. It’s is the exact same as the King James but with our the “est” “eth” “thou” “thee” “thine”. They didn’t change any of the word order, or phraseology apart from updates the old Elizabethan English. https://biblebuyingguide.com/sword-study-bible-kjver-review/

   BEWARE OF THE SCRIBES

   Have you ever wondered why there are so many different Bibles on the market today? The Bible tells us in Mark 12:38 and Luke 20:46 to beware of the scribes; which when you read these verses, they kind of gave us a picture of certain religious leaders. But a scribe by definition (Merriam-Webster) is a member of a learned class in ancient Israel through New Testament times studying the Scriptures and serving as copyists, editors, teachers, and jurists. They were basically records keepers who would put historical writings and documents into book form. And who are the scribes today? They are the editors and publishers.
   And in order for them to get a copyright allowing them to publish the Bible and make money, they have to change the Bible by at least 10%; which is why we now have so many different translations. And these changes can be devastating.
   Here are some examples:

   Hosea 11:12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints. – King James Version (KJV)

   Hosea 11:12 Ephraim has surrounded me with lies, Israel with deceit. And Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One. – New International Version (NIV)

   So in the KJV, Judah ruled with God and was faithful to the saints. But in the NIV, Judah was unruly against God and the saints, which is the complete opposite from the original text.

   Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. – King James Version (KJV)
   Matthew 7:14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. – New King James Version (NKJV)
   The New King James Version replaced the word “narrow” with the word “difficult” which changes the entire meaning of the verse indicating works for salvation as opposed to trusting in Jesus alone for our salvation.
   The Bible is clear that Jesus is the only way to get into heaven (John 14:6) and that salvation is a GIFT from God and NOT of our own works. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

   And here are other examples:
   Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. – King James Version (KJV)
   Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. – American Standard Version (ASV)
   Notice that the American Standard Version (ASV) deletes the part where Jesus said “Get thee behind me, Satan.”
   Luke 11:2-4 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. – King James Version (KJV)
   Luke 11:2-4 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Father, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation. – American Standard Version (ASV)
   Notice that the parts where Jesus said “Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.” and “but deliver us from evil.” were deleted from the American Standard Version (ASV).
   The same sections were also deleted from the New International Version (NIV), the New American Standard Bible (NASB), The Living Bible (TLB), the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), the New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) and the New Century Version (NCV).
   Unfortunately, one of the worst translations of the Bible that is on the market today is also one of the most popular versions… the New International Version (NIV). In many ways, the NIV Bible is equivalent to the Jehovah’s Witness Bible.
   The NIV deletes over 64,000 words including words like mercyseat, Jehovah, and Godhead. It removes meaningful, well-known Bible words like Calvary, Lucifer, new testament, regeneration, etc. Most of the modern Bibles line up very closely with the NIV–and so does the New World Translation–the Bible of the Jehovah’s Witnesses which predates the NIV.

The Jehovah’s Witness “Bible” also places the last 12 verses of Mark as an appendix of sorts.

   I John 5:7 — Vitally important phrase COMPLETELY removed [also deleted from the Jehovah’s Witness “Bible”]. In the NIV it says, “For there are three that testify:”
   Compare the NIV reading with the following Jehovah’s Witness reading– “For there are three witness bearers,”
   What are you NIV readers missing? What does the real Bible say? “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” This is one of the GREATEST verses testifying of the trinity.
   Most people don’t seem to realize how serious it is to make these changes in the Bible! Revelation 22:19 says “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
   I would like to add that this warning is also given in Deuteronomy 12: 32 “What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.” And in Proverbs 12: 5 & 6 “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”
   With all of the new translations that are on the market today with all of their subtle and not-so-subtle changes, you have to be very careful about what you’re reading. Just because you’re reading a Bible doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re reading the word of God.
