Johnnie Belle Wood, far right, recorded about the first Church of God Ladies’ Willing Workers Band, “In the year 1929, on November 16, in the little town of Electra, Texas, where we were pastoring at that time, after much worry and prayer about financial conditions, God began to deal with my heart to organize the ladies and go to work…. We set a day to meet and sixteen were present. We read some scriptures, had prayer, then organized what is now known as the L.W.W.B. … Our colors are white and black; our flower is the white carnation; our theme song is ‘We’ll Work Till Jesus Comes.’ Our motto is Neh. 2:20b, ‘The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build.’”
