Charles Page made me do it! With all the comments Charles has made about COG fashions it has got me to watching for beauty and attractiveness. As a young pastor I learned to avert my eyes and to only look at women from the neck up. Generally speaking that has worked well in the business world as well.
In the month of June I began to notice what women were wearing, my wife has always noticed what other women wore but that has never been my forte. No sooner had I started watching the clothes that women wear than I came across an essay about the mind of women and then a book by Thomas Wolfe, who went to a lot of trouble describing the physical features of women. In his 1929 book he described their nose, chin, hairline, arms, wrists, hands and fingers. He was describing the features of southern appalachian women, mostly those from Irish and Scottish descent.
Somewhere I read that only about two percent of all females would meet, what we call the hollywood criteria of beauty. In Russia and in some other parts of the world perhaps only one half of one percent would meet that criteria. So Charles, all that has happened so for is that I am more confused than ever; I do not pretend to understand the mind of women nor do I understand how they go about picking out their clothes from endless choices and of course I have no clue as to why some women have large oversize knees that lead to tiny feet. Now I have decided to back myself out of this untenable position and retreat to the innocence that I have enjoyed down through the years. Help me Lord!
