There was a tongue given from the GA general council floor and the moderator gave the interpretation this morning.Is this a general practice through out the Churches. Do the clergy trust the laity? Seems to not.

The tongue was through a good personal friend of mine and he IS an Ordained Minister.

D. L. just want to make a point; I do think that one opinion is more valid than another. Some opinions are well informed while some are made based on an assumption. Some opinions come from people with wisdom, insight and with a balanced personality and of course some do not.

But if you look at the reply based on what you said the informed opinion now moves from simply an opinion to more of a (factual) nature.That is exactly why I stated it as I did. Some opinions are simply fact.

I spent several years in the A/G growing up, and maybe about one in the COG in the US. Later, I spent time in the COGs national conference, GBI, in Indonesia, but in terms of style and doctrine, it is different.
I hear it is common in COGs for only the pastor to interpret tongues. That is strange to me for a Pentecostal denomination to be that way since it seemed typical for tongues and interpretation to come from the congregation in the A/G. There was one church I went to in the A/G that had an assistant pastor who would occasionally interpret, but I think he intentionally waited to give other people a chance. I’ve never given an interpretation of tongues in church, but some people I’ve known have gotten the same interpretation as someone else who gave it first… that sort of thing. The same with prophecy. I’ve gotten words of knowledge that were included in prophecies I heard right after I got the word of knowledge, which is similar.
How common is it for only pastors in a COG to interpret tongues? Do any pastors squelch or discourage interpretations from the congregation?
To me, that seems like a shortcoming in someone’s pastoral ministry, not making an effort to encourage saints to obey the scriptural command to be minister to one another with their gifts as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

The issue is that as a body we are not

But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.We are to seek to be used as God sees fit at any given moment.
That could be the word of knowledge or word of wisdom instead of tongues and the interpretation thereof.
