You can stick a fork in him folks–he’s done.” _Dizzy Dean

In my last blog (Before You Start) I stated the following: Before you start something, know what has to happen for it to be done.

Before you start something, know what has to happen for it to be done.

My motivation for writing that blog was that I don’t want you wasting your life wandering around in a wilderness of busyness and routine but never really getting anywhere.  Life is too short for that.

However…

I’d like to add a little more to the equation today and it is this: In spite of your best efforts and in spite of perfect clarity on what needs to happen to be done, sometimes things just will not get done.

Contrary to what Disney taught you as a child, all your dreams will not come true.

Some people will not change, no matter how much you love them (and work at loving them!).

Some projects, hopes, and wishes really are impossible.

Maybe at another time or another place it will work but not now, not here.

Maybe another person, but not you.

And that’s okay.

There was merit in the effort and lessons to be learned…to a point and then it’s time…

Time to cut your losses and move on.

The ONE THING for today: Deadlines are a wonderful thing.  They provide direction, help you measure the passage of time, and help you finish…whether you’re done or not.
