Miracles Don’t Last Forever

For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.’” (1 Kings 17:14, NKJV)

“Just fix it God!”

“Make it go away.”

“I don’t want this anymore!”

When it comes to miracles, we’re looking for “one and done.”

But like God’s promise to the widow of Zarephath (I sure wish we knew her name!), there are expiration dates on miracles.

Miracles have expiration dates.

For example, God promised the widow that He’d miraculously feed her until the rain came and then she’d have to get back to working the garden plot and feeding the chickens.

Don’t forget, nothing in this life is meant to last forever.

God is not into “fixing things”.  He’s into building in us the character that will be able to withstand heaven.  Heaven is where forever is.  And if you do not have the ability to stand in the ineffable light of God’s pure, piercing holy love then no matter how many miracles He does for you on earth, all will be ultimately lost.

The ONE THING for today: While Jesus is preparing a place for you in His Father’s house, the Holy Spirit is preparing you for the place. Before asking for that next miracle, first ask, if what you’re currently going through is a part of the process of getting you ready for the greatest miracle – living with your Father GOD forever.
