“Praise God from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavn’n-ly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
_From the Genevan Psalter, 1551
Listening To God Be the Glory (Hymns of the Spirit, page 20) brought back a lot of memories. Good, upbeat, robust congregational singing was the bread and butter of my worship experience growing up.
The Doxology (page 21), not so much. Perhaps it came across a little too “High Church” for the hard working folk who attended the Pentecostal churches of my childhood.
But both songs are in the hymnal – different sides of the same coin – both all about giving God the praise He is due. Both worth singing.
