“It is well to remember that the entire population of the universe, with one trifling exception, is composed of others.”

―Andrew J. Holmes

It is amazing how little time we actually spend with people during a lifetime.

Sonja and I will soon celebrate our 47th anniversary. Yet if all the hours that we were actually together were added up it would be far less than 47 years.

Matter of fact, on any given day, by the time work, sleep, and personal time are eliminated we spend very little actual time together.

Then with my children and their families it is even less – far less.

And then with those I work with and work for – even less.

There are people I consider close friends who I only see a few hours a year (if that much).

Bottom line, it is amazing how little time we spend with people – even the people we love the most.

Why waste that time with conflict and strife?

Life is too short and time together is too precious to waste on things that do not add joy and value to those we love and care about.

And for those people in our lives who are a constant source of frustration? Seen in the light of a lifetime, the frustration is a trifle hardly worth mentioning.

The ONE THING for today: “A lifetime together” is an illusion. Don’t take any moment together for granted. Treasure those precious and rare moments, you never know which one will be your last.
