NEXT Weather Alert issued for parts of South Florida due to possible flash flood threat
A NEXT Weather alert has been extended for parts of South Florida into Friday as heavy rain pounded the region, bringing the possibility of flash flooding. “We could be looking at totals anywhere from two to four inches plus, because we’ve already gotten some spots here that have gone even above that,” CBS News Miami’s NEXT Weather Chief Meteorologist said.

Winter storm alert issued for Montana and Wyoming: “major” impacts expected
Roughly 5,000 people in Montana and Wyoming were warned of “major” impacts this weekend as meteorologists issued winter storm watches. “It is around this time you start to see snow in the mountains. However, with this system, it is looking like the amounts are above normal for this time of year…. The main concern is people being unprepared for the conditions out there.”

North Carolina: Southport mass shooting
A mass shooting has left the Southport community shocked and heartbroken. It was the first in the city’s history, according to Mayor Rich Alt. Three people were killed in the shooting on Sept. 27, and multiple others were injured. Nigel Max Edge, 40, of Oak Island, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury.
