Good evening, and welcome to #ourCOG Daily Brief for March 4, 2026.
In today’s top stories, U.S. Senators have rejected a bill to curb the President’s war powers regarding Iran, continuing a trend of Congress deferring to the executive branch on such critical decisions. Amid the conflict, the U.S. is now securing limited flights for Americans stranded in the Middle East, addressing initial confusion. Domestically, Texas Democrats have coalesced around James Talarico for the Senate, while Republican incumbent John Cornyn faces a May runoff against Attorney General Ken Paxton. Further congressional debate has emerged over quickly funding the Department of Homeland Security in the wake of U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran. Meanwhile, an experiment with AI making daily decisions revealed some significant flaws, raising flags for experts. On the global front, Gulf Arab states, who initially lobbied for U.S.-Iran diplomacy, are now tilting toward war after nearly 1,800 Iranian missiles and drones targeted their airspace, transforming the region. Europe, however, is not following the U.S. into the Iran war, remembering its experience in Iraq in 2003. And in Nepal, the country is holding its first elections since a youth-led uprising, offering young people a reason to stay rather than seek work abroad.
Turning our attention to video content, we’ve seen impactful messages from “The Arch Discipleship,” a second installment of “Hell’s Spell’s II” by Bishop Jason Garner, a reminder that “Christianity is supposed to be fun! #jesus #christianity #discipleship,” and an update from “Today On Jentezen Franklin TV.”
In Faith News, key announcements include a “Church Planting Intensive Set for March 11-13,” a “Church Files Emergency Appeal to Resume Worship,” the popular “‘The Bible Recap’ Hits Top 100 on Apple Podcasts,” and a “Multi Million Dollar Gift Launches New Era for SMCH.”
For our prophecy news, today, March 4th, we learned about America’s new industrial revolution, with the U.S. economy outpacing Europe, driven by President Trump’s pro-growth policies and a surge in AI investment. Yesterday, March 3rd, reports emerged of a mass shooting on Sixth Street resulting in three deaths and fourteen injuries, with the FBI indicating signs of terrorism. On March 2nd, the IDF announced the elimination of top Iranian terror axis officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, marking the culmination of efforts in the ‘War of Revival.’ And on March 1st, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, which included Israel’s largest airstrike to date, would ultimately lead to peace.
Finally, in Jewish history, looking back to March 5th, 363 AD, Roman Emperor Julian, who reverted many of Constantine’s pro-Christian policies to embrace other religions, set out with a massive army to attack the Sassanid Empire. On his journey, he famously ordered the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, though his untimely death prevented this from happening. We also remember the birth of King Henry II of England in 1133, a period during which Jewish communities reportedly prospered.
