Moreover he made a bronze alter: twenty cubits was its length, twenty cubits its width, and ten cubits its height.
_2 Chronicles 4:1, NKJV
The bronze altar that Solomon had prepared for the Temple had 16 times the surface area available for sacrifices than the original bronze altar that was placed in the Tabernacle (Exodus 27:1).
The original bronze altar – holy as it was – was designed for a small embryonic nation that was just emerging upon the world stage.
Solomon’s altar was designed to serve an established nation that was at the height of its strength and influence.
What about you?
Where are you in life?
Maybe you are still in the small embryonic emerging stage.
Don’t despise small things. Treat that stage as a sacred, holy, and ordained stage of your life. Be diligent to give a good account of yourself throughout that emerging stage.
But when you arrive…
Scale up.
God didn’t bless you to hoard and make life about you.
Leverage the mature stage of your life to serve more, give more, be more.
Bottom line, you can’t keep living at the same level of sacrifice and service if you hope to reach the next level and impact the lives of the arriving generations.
The ONE THING for today: Whichever stage of life you are, there’s more for you. Its time to scale up!
Our contemporary concept of working to a point on the calendar and then spending the rest of our days on cruise control does not come from God’s playbook.
