If I had a New Year’s prayer for the Church of God it would be this; that they would add one million new members to their membership in 2017. Two things made me arrive at this number ( 1 ) about one million will be added to the U. S. population this year so there are plenty of prospects. ( 2 ) the church has about one million in U.S. membership and so if one would win one adding one million would be doable. As for as accommodation I suspect that the existing churches have enough empty pews and classrooms to handle a doubling of size.

Last year I heard the AB of Ohio, speaking to a CoG in Cleveland,Ohio say that in 2014 the denomination had no net growth, those churches that were reporting more numbers were doing at the expense of other CoG’s who were losing members.

How about sharing God’s Word to 1 million people that they may be saved?

I am all for reaching a million people but even in today’s world it’s hard to do. I’ve written weekly columns for many years and several tracks and brochures. The past four years I have been on social media as well have taught and preached in four states and just now am approaching one million readers and listeners. Entertainers can now reach more than that in one hour.
