1Be you followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

2Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. 5But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, for as much as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. 9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. 11Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray to God uncovered? 14Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame to him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

These are instructions given to the churches of God (Link Hudson) and anyone who disagrees with it is contentious.

There are no customs that support the contentious’ views.

All the churches of God hold to this view. A church of God is not a contentious church!

The Indonesian translation makes it sounds like this is a custom of the Corinthians and none of the other churches have it.

The shame of men having long hair disappeared when the shame of women having cropped hair disappeared.

Do you remember when old fashion country preachers would preach against men having long hair? They emphasized the “shame of it”

SO WHAT YOU’RE SAYING IS….Samson was told by God to “shame himself” by not cutting his hair?? SORRY, but hair is just another trivial thing for people to argue over!!!!

Paul said we should not be contentious over this matter.

Samson was under a levite vow to not drink wine nor cut is hair

The way it sounds, it seems like ‘demikian’ refers back to the hair custom.

Btw, did you notice that the COG folks in Indonesia have a Bible that calls God “Allah.” The A/G supports churches called The Assembly of Allah. (Or the conference of the churches of Allah, or something like that.) The COG church is the Bethel Church of Indonesia, named after a church in the Pacific Northwest of the US that founded the denomination that several splits back, GBI split off of.

Do you think Paul may have written this when his hair was long? Acts 18:18
18 So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

Why would he CUT his hair because of a vow, rather than grow it? Maybe he shaved it off to keep from mixing the vowed hair and the unvowed hair. His hair may have been long otherwise.

Paul preached in Corinth in the beginning of this chapter and probably wrote the letter some time later. He may have shaved that hair when he went into the temple in Acts 21-22 with other Nazarites to pay their expenses. Or, he might not have gotten to shave and been long haired for the rest of his life.
