What Dust?

LUKE 9

1 One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases.

2 Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

3 “Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them. “Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes.

4 Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town.

5 And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.”

6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick.

 

When Jesus sent his disciples out, you can READ HERE that not all of Galilee were ready to receive what Jesus and his disciples had to offer. Even the ruler Herod was puzzled by all of the stories, about Jesus, that he was hearing.

I know that verse 5 was meant for the town not ready to receive  “the Good News”, but I do wonder if local churches still fall under the same attitude?

I am open to the fact that not only are some churches NOT ready to leap into the 21st century, but even some Pastors are not ready for that leap, either. What do laity need to do if this be the case?

I put a challenge before you:

God has placed you in a church, and the Sr. Pastor…

  • refuses to let anyone help him to develop leaders,
  • refuses to give leadership any responsibilities,
  • refuses to use the help offered to him,
  • refuses to hold any people accountable for actions

YOU, have multiple abilities and are more than willing to help,

YOU, have offered that help in many, many different ways,

YOU, have never asked for anything in return.

All the while these things listed that YOU did/offered have fallen on deaf ears, does Luke 9:5 apply to YOU?

Do you stay and continue to do all that you can do? If so, how long do you stay? How long do you continue to work?

Remember that Eph. 6:7 says, “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” You know that God has placed a servant’s heart in you and has given you the ministry of helps, not the ministry to ‘be in charge’. Everything that you do is for the advancement of The Kingdom and His House.
