ARE WE ALLOWED TO EAT PORK OR PIG DURING THE CHRISTIAN DISPENSATION????

PORK

What will be your feelings when some spiritual leaders would tell you that you are not allowed to eat pork, or swine, or pig. Perhaps, you might say, that “my goodness, this kind of meat is very delicious, why can’t we eat it?’ Almost everybody all over the world is eating it, why not us? Now, is it biblically correct that we can’t eat pork, or on the other hand, is it biblically correct too, that we can eat pork? Are there biblical verses that would support this kind of claim? To clarify matters, let us resort to the bible, to find out if it is really true, that God is not allowing us to eat pork or vice versa.

In GENESIS 9: 1-3, it states = “Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them. ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.” = As you would remember, there was a great flood during the time of Noah, and only Noah and his family survived the great flood. After the flood, Noah and his family were instructed by God to multiply their numbers, and God gave them all the animals for them to eat, and of course, that also includes the pig. During Noah’s time, they were allowed to eat pigs.

In LEVITICUS 11: 7-8, it states = “And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses, they are unclean for you.” = During the time of Moses, God had forbidden the Israelites to eat the meat of the pig. God said it was unclean. If you could remember, the Israelites had been slaves of Egypt for almost 430 years. And during those times, the Egyptians were eating all kinds of meat, including the pig. Pigs are unclean during those times, because pigs were scavengers, eating almost any kind of refuse. Unlike nowadays, pigs are being fed with clean food to make them saleable. Anyway, whatever the Egyptians were eating, the Israelites were also eating them. The Egyptians ate pigs, so as with the Israelites. Now, when the Israelites left Egypt with Moses as their leader, God had instructed the Israelites to stop eating pigs. Please take note, that this instruction was given by God exclusively for the Israelites only at that point in time.

In MALACHI 4: 4, it states = “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.” = God gave Moses the decrees and laws at Horeb (mountain), and God called these laws as the Law of Moses. And part of these decrees and laws was not to eat pigs. But remember, that these decrees and laws were exclusively only for the Israelites.

In HEBREW 7: 12, it states = “For when there is a change of priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.” = During the time of Moses, the priesthood belongs to Moses, but during the time of Jesus Christ, the priesthood of Moses was transferred to Jesus Christ, and during the
priesthood of Jesus Christ some of the Laws of Moses were changed, just like the eating of pigs.

In GALATIANS 6: 2, it states = “Carry each other’s burden, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” = There it is, the Law of Moses was now changed to the Law of Christ. That’s why, in our Christian dispensation, we have to follow the Law of Christ, not the Law of Moses, except of course, when some of the Law of Moses had been retained by Christ.

In ACTS 13: 39, it states = “Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from the law of Moses.”= This verse means that we will not be justified anymore in following the law of Moses. We now have to follow the Law of Christ.

In MARK 7: 19, it states = “For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body. (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods ‘clean’).” = Jesus in this verse had declared that all foods are clean, and pig is a food, therefore, pig is a clean animal, and in our Christian dispensation, we are now allowed to eat pigs. So, Christians, rejoice, you are now allowed to eat the meat of the pig. Precautions, though, the meat of the pig contains too much cholesterol, you might die of a heart attack.

In 1 TIMOTHY 4: 4-5, it states = “For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” = Oh, well, it says, that everything God created is good, so, therefore, the meat of the pig is good for us to eat, as long as we received it with thanksgiving.

In HEBREW 9: 10, it states = “They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings – external regulations applying until the time of the new order.” = This verse means that these rituals which belong to the Law of Moses are only effective until the time of Jesus Christ. The time of Christ is the time of the new order, in which Christ had deleted, amended and retained the Law of Moses.

In COLLOSIANS 2: 16-17, it states = “Therefore, do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regards to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration, or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come, the reality, however, is found in Christ.” = The explanation of this verse is similar to the explanation of the verse in number 9. That these rituals are only effective until the time of Jesus Christ. When the priesthood of Jesus Christ took effect, these rituals had just become a shadow of the things that were to come.

In HEBREW 8: 13, it states = “By calling this covenant ‘new’, he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.” = The old covenant or the Law of Moses, had been changed by God, by introducing a New Covenant, and this new covenant, are what we are supposed to follow and obey.

I hoped that I had clarified things regarding the eating of pork or the meat of pigs. In summary, the eating of the meat of pigs was only forbidden during the time of Moses, but now in our time, we are now allowed to eat pork. Enjoy your food, especially your pork.

Thank you.
