Avery D. Evans, left, and Roy Earl Hamilton, right, became the first graduates of Church of God Bible Training School, now Lee University, on April 4, 1919. Hamilton said about the need for an education, “My friends, listen, when Paul was preaching we find him spending a few months at Tarsus studying. If Paul needed to study the Word of God with the knowledge he had, I am sure we need to spend a few months studying.”
