Church of God General Overseer Paul Laverne Walker was born in Minot ND on January 23, 1932. His parents and grandparents had been Church of God pioneers in the Northwest, and he modeled a “pioneer spirit” as his Atlanta congregation opened their hearts to hippies and Charismatic Christians in the 1960s. When elected to the office of general overseer in 1996, he had pastored the Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta for 36 years.
