Church of God Resolutions on War and International Terrorism

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, four hijacked planes — American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 77, and United Airlines Flight 93 — in a time span of only one hour and 25 minutes, crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, the West Section of the Pentagon, and a rural section of Somerset County, Pennsylvania, taking the lives of more than 3,000 individuals; and

WHEREAS this violent act of unprecedented terrorism took the lives of individuals from all walks of life, including many different nationalities and religions, and through death touched the hearts of people in more than 60 countries worldwide; and

WHEREAS the events of this one day have forever changed our lives by impacting our personal sense of security and well-being, by challenging us to recognize the ever-present dangers that surround us, and revealing to us the end-time realities that are set before us; and

WHEREAS the Church of God, with ministries reaching more than 160 nations around the world, has in point of fact strategically felt the impact of the horrors of this unimaginable act of terrorism; and

WHEREAS the Church of God has responded through various denominational ministries under the guidance of our General Overseer, and facilitated through the office of our Division of Care Ministries, to assist those who have been most affected by these tragic events; and

WHEREAS we, the Church of God, remain committed to a worldwide ministry of evangelization, benevolent care, and ministry outreach, even in the face of the current threat of global terrorism;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that we, the Church of God, support President George W. Bush and the numerous world leaders who have joined with him in determined resolve to end the threat of terrorism throughout the world; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we pray for all victims of terrorism around the world and those who continue to feel the pain and peril resulting from intentional harm by others, and that we follow the Scriptural admonition to pray for the salvation of those who themselves are committed to be agents of terror; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that in this 69th General Assembly of the Church of God, we commit ourselves to be agents of positive change by our manner of life, through example, testimony, prayer, and appropriate spiritual demeanor, that we may be living witnesses of the testimony of Jesus Christ and His message of peace and hope to a lost and dying world.

WHEREAS acts of terrorism against innocent people are on the increase worldwide; and

WHEREAS the destruction of property and the taking of lives are against basic Christian principles; and

WHEREAS Scripture forbids the unlawful taking of human life and exacts heavy penalties to those who violate this commandment;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, the General Assembly of the Church of God, reaffirm our historic commitment to the sacredness of human life; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we stand opposed to all acts of international terrorism (58th A., 1980, p. 50).

  1. “I have not ever liked the statement I can not tell more, if it’s information we need as the believer in Jesus Christ we need it. I am glad John the Revelator wrote it all down so we can read it all. Trying not to be critical, we need preachers to warn us all.

The Lord spoke to me about something in California about 2 weeks before the terror killings out there, I stood in my pulpit and told my people that something was going to happen in California that would set the tone for the rest of what would happen.

We need to share and warn people.”

  2. I like that he saw it on West Virginia, I wonder if he saw something named after Robert Byrd and if that tipped him off. This reminds of of faith healers that will stand in from of 400 people and say, someone has a back problem

  3. The troops were here but i never saw them. They were just doing drills practicing surveillance. Apparently, they were good. I saw nothing and i drive a truck down all kinds of back roads where they were. ??

  4. There is the underground facility at white springs, which was built in the 60’s so the government would be safe incase of a nuclear attack.

  5. Maybe we should check with John Hagee, I’m such he has a large scroll he can unroll and have all this information on it

  6. Stan Wayne I am with you on this one. My comments here are much similar to something irrelevant Link would say. Just trying to make some sense from the whole thing as neither its timing nor content fit any known prophetic pattern. But then again the question… Can any of our friends in WV, VA shed some light? David M. Hinsen Billy Monroe Poff

  7. The only insight I can share is when something like this is stated, you usually have 2 groups of people. Those who completely dismiss it and those who go overboard. Ok, so this isn’t always the case, but…is there any middle ground? Wilma Peerson, does it have to fit any well-known pattern? Not being argumentative, just asking. Not taking up for or even agreeing with Stone. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

  8. Well. If Perry Stone said it, it must be true. He has access to the holy of holies you know. Bc he follows Jewish Law.

  9. Better yet when is the time line as in the exact date and time that it will be fulfilled? It remains me of the healing evangelist that point to a crowd of 500 and says, someone over here has a back problem

  10. Yeah i posted that too. One of our mechanics saw a video at his last training course of a fully auto trash truck already on the road.

  11. “My guess is that we have seen very few Muslim immigrants to Europe, USA or Canada convert to Christ. If anyone has some numbers that would be great.
Muslim immigrants come for the welfare, the benefits and to spread the global Uma of Islam in order to subjugate the people to Allah via the imposition of Sharia law. Some are truly escaping persecution. But the majority over the last several decades are not escaping but seeking something new. Some do work or start businesses, but vast numbers just get welfare.

Germany started bringing in immigrants to do work the Germans were not doing. But now Germany, Scandanavia, France, Britain- all are suffering under a crippling weight of new welfare costs.”

  12. Yes, Pentecostals should reach out to Muslim immigrants, but we need a clear, Spirit led strategy.

  13. The indication seems to be that the majority of Muslims to don want to assimilate into European culture. Some have and some have in the US, but their is a movement among them not to assimilate.

  14. Thanks Steve, I am very familiar with all of the lies and tactics of Islam. Like all groups not every one of them is a true believer. But those who do believe are very much committed to the Caliphate and Jihad. Even if they never commit an act of violence they still support it.

  15. “Interesting thesis. I would suppose if the host culture is radically different than the home culture assimilation is more challenging. It is natural to form enclaves of immigrants in order to retain a sense of community and continuity with the ethnic identity formed in the home country.

Assimilation is something people have to want and work at. Can immigrants have an evangelistic impact on the host country? Do you have any research on that? Were the Bulgarian Churches in N. America able to bring revival to Americans or was it confined to Bulgarians?

Can immigrants of one ethnicity more effectively reach immigrants of other ethnicities more so than Americans can?”

  16. the Lord gave me a prophetic word last Sunday in Church. just my memory: “God said that he was not a god doing nothing about the religious extremist massacre in California. My hands are not tied and I am not bound. I am your Lord and King and I rule my world.”

  17. The Brits are all worked-up over Trump. They should read William DeArteaga’s blog and get their heads screwed on straight!

  18. Britain is still labouring under the false impression that islam is a religion of peace. There needs to be open and robust discussion about this. But there won’t be, because Tony Blair deliberately opened the flood gates to making Britain an irreversibly multi-cultural society. The question has to be asked: are ‘moderate moslems’ being true to their faith? Or are they like ‘liberal christians’ — the ones who have actually deniewd the histroic Chritian faith and have become apostate? WHY will no one really expose what is at the heart of islam? Because, I suspect, the truth is too aweful to contemplate. I love moslems. I have the same respect for them, as individuals, and as families, as I do for anyone else. But I don’t love the politico-religeopus system that millions of them are trapped in.

  19. Maybe they are commenting on his saying the US should prevent Muslims from entering the country. That part is more controversial.

Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near!! The gospel of Jesus Christ is of 1st importance to hear!! Jesus Christ, the Son of God Almighty, our Father, creator of heaven & earth, was born of the Holy Spirit & the Virgin Mary, into the world, over 2000 years ago, to live a perfect, sinless, life of love!! He went around forgiving all sin, healing all sickness, even raising the dead!! The blind received sight, the deaf heard, the lame walked, those with leprosy were cleansed, & he preached good news to the poor!! He drove out demons, fed thousands, & performed many other miracles, signs & wonders!! He discipled His followers to do likewise & even greater works than He, in love for Him & His commandments, especially to “Love each other as I have loved you” & “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” Then as the Law & Prophets testified, he was condemned to suffer crucifixion to pay the death penalty for our sins on the cross!! After his burial, three days later, God raised Him to life forever as Lord & Savior over all creation!! He then ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God promising everlasting life in His kingdom to all who believe in Jesus’ name to be saved from death & hell!! Soon, Jesus will come back from heaven to earth, in the clouds, & will judge the living & the dead for every word & deed!! Believe, be baptized & repent!! Turn to & trust in Jesus today who is worthy of eternal praise, glory & honor!! Forsake evil, follow Jesus, & become His disciple by reading & obeying God’s Word, the Holy Bible!! Seek & you shall find & ask for FREE “Holy Bibles” with just the Old & New Testaments, to give the words of eternal life immediately to everyone at your 1st opportunity!! 21. It’s getting pretty prevalent in the political media sream that Trump cannot beat Hillary, so it’s probably irrelevant what him or Cruz would say from this point on David Lewayne Porter David M. Hinsen Ricky Grimsley

  22. If I remember correctly, someone was encouraging people in my state, to vote. I responded back with the question: “WHO?” They replied to vote for someone with Christian values. … II Timothy 3:1-5: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” … Galatians 5:19-26 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

  23. Well as Timothy Carter pointed out in his other post, many among the secularized are now proposing two moral value standards for holiness – one for ministers and one for members; one for pastors and one for politicians. And I guess, one for born-again Christians and one for just church attendees. Thank God, He still have just one standard for holiness – His…

  24. “America better get ready to mourn instead of celebrating.
Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Do we think trump is righteous?
    Well let me see,
I keep getting told that we are voting for president not pastor or Sunday School teacher.
So what does that tell us?”

  25. Ms. May is also part of the stay movement in the UK. On June 23rd they, the country, will have a referendum on whether to exit or stay, the reason, the average UK subject does not want more immigration or refuges. As of today the exit group is ahead in the polls. As for Muslims, I agree with Mr. Trump until we get a handle on things those folks need to be allowed in if they have a legitimate business or family reason, and must leave when their properly vetted visa is up. No tourist at this time, nor refugees

  26. Mrs May was right to say Trump was wrong about the Muslims in the UK. Mr Trump should not interfere in our country spouting off things that prove what an ignorant man he is. I signed the petition calling for him to be banned from this nation because he lied about us. I do not appreciate foreign politicians lying about my country. In british politics I am normally critical of Mrs May but not in this instance. Please read what she really said and not the silly comments above the link.

  27. So have you seen today’s Wapo? Seems Cruz has had as many as 5 mistresses and that his wife was once suicidal

  28. “Robert Cox Stan Wayne Trump declared a positive, optimistic message: “Let’s make America great again.” He exposed the antinomianism of the church establishment. He said, just casually and as a matter of fact, that if abortion is murder, women delivering their babies for abortion are guilty and must be punished in one way or another. The man doesn’t even believe that abortion is murder! But just him saying it sent church leaders into a frenzy. And guess what: so many of them all of a sudden decided that the women who abort their babies are victims.

Someone as conservative as Albert Mohler said it. “Trump,” he said, “reveals ignorance on historic pro-life position.

Trump recanted later. Of course he would. The point was not to express his position. The point was to make the church leaders expose their own antinomianism and he achieved it. And brilliantly with the clear message that restoring America will start with purging her pulpits of the impostors.

  29. “I don’t know why any of the above is relevant – I am for Trump because he is a nationalist. We need a strong traditional America. Churches and missions and life in general throughout the world is better with a strong America.

A Christian America is a separate issue not in Trump’s power.”

  30. Well we are looking at it from a theological point of view, but as James Hollomon alluded Trump may be purely atheistic

  31. We havent had a christian president probably ever. The power structure of America has never been godly.

  32. “that’s funny Carl. Can I get an actual update on this…from anyone?
I enjoy reading all of your comments, BUT”
