Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace…
__Robert Robinson, 1758 (Page 16, Hymns of the Spirit)
Recently I picked up one of the hymnbooks of my childhood: Hymns of the Spirit, and, beginning on page 1, began listening to a hymn each morning (giving careful attention to the lyrics) as a way to start my day.
I have found it so enriching that I thought I’d share a few of them with you.
This particular hymn highlighted for me the tension between my desire to worship God but also how I am “prone to leave the God I love.”
All that to say, at the end of this day (and at the end of days), if we make it home to heaven, ultimately, it will be because, like a fetter, God’s goodness bound our wandering heart to Himself.
As far as this video, I love the Celtic flavor.
