From time to time I think about Bishop Williams call to have all of the COG read the bible through. He did this when he was G O. Then today as I was reading in Leviticus I wondered how any modern person could read Lev. and make sense of it without the guidance of someone who had studied the whole bible and understood the history of the Jewish people.
Since Lev. was a message aimed primarily at the Levites while they were still in the wilderness and neither of those circumstances has existed for over 2500 years-how to make the comparison? When I took mass communications at Wheaton it became clear how difficult it was to pass along information and have it fully understood. And yet the Levites were to put certain animal parts on the north side of the alter and other parts on the east side. The Priest’s were to throw the blood round about the altar. A bull has a lot of blood; think about how bloody and messy it would become as the day wore on and animal after animal was sacrificed. Should we keep converts in the N T unless they have a guide?
