He Fills Your Life With New Mercies
It has been said that the worst of storms often give way at dawn to the most beautiful sunrises. Indeed, this picture of receding purple storm clouds and a glorious sunrise of brilliant color seem to bear that truth out.
I was reading in my devotions this morning from a seldom read or quoted Book of the Bible, The Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah. As God’s Spirit inspired this ancient prophet of Israel, He said several things in Chapter 3 of his Lamentations that remind us of storms and sunrises of hope.
In verse 38 of Lamentations Chapter 3, He reminds us that God sends both calamity and good, but it is all done justly and for God’s purposes. Jeremiah understood everybody likes good things to happen to them, but we often refuse to understand that God can allow unfortunate things, and even calamity in our lives, to work in us His will and good purposes.
Paul even says in Hebrews 12:11 that we may think no chastening is joyous, but if we receive it as something coming from a loving Heavenly Father, it will work in us righteousness.
In verses 19-21 of Lamentations Chapter 3, Jeremiah tells us that when he remembered his affliction, he then had hope, and in verses 22-25, he shares some of the greatest words in the Bible, something we desperately need to hear in this exceedingly wicked hour as the Lord’s return is near. Listen to this real man of God….
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore, I will hope in Him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, To the soul that seeketh Him.”
Listen, folks, God is not dead!! God is not unaware !! God knows you by name and has numbered the very hairs of your head. His plans for you are perfect, just like His very nature.
Don’t doubt or question Him in the steps you find yourself taking; He is holding your hand. Every morning He fills your life with new mercies. You are loved by the Creator of the universe Himself!! The enemy will never be a match for you and certainly not for your Heavenly Father.
Great is thy faithfulness, oh Lord!!
