Here’s something to think about while letting scripture interpret itself. God’s mercy is for a thousand generations. If we took this in a wooden literal sense here’s what happens in Matthews genealogy from Abraham to Christ was 42 generations so for argument sake we go back 42 more to Adam so that’s 84. From Christ to now I’ll high ball and make it 116 so now we stand at 200 generations. Say a generation is 40 years and we have 800 more generations till God’s mercy runs out so based on these calculations he won’t return for another 32000 years. No one believes he will wait that long though possible it’s his call. This is one of the problems reading the bible in a wooden literal face value way. This is a death blow to dispensatinalism
