Something different from a COG
Hey, Everyone! If you haven’t noticed, a growing number of American Christians who grew up in churches that had little or no historical liturgical expression in their worship are discovering and experimenting with these forms today. You see this in a variety of ways–attention to the Christian calendar, the observation of advent (including readings, candles and colors), personal and corporate prayer that is more contemplative, the reading of creeds, weekly Eucharist, and much more. Have you wondered why some folks feel drawn to these historical practices in this postmodern context? Would you like to hear from individuals and churches that have been on this journey? Well, we have good news!
On Saturday, September 17th, Coram Deo and Renovatus Church, in cooperation with the Ancient Future Faith Network will be hosting a symposium at Renovatus Church entitled “Why Liturgy?” The symposium will go from 9:00-1:00. We will hear from a few different speakers, including a keynote from Dr. Alison K. Littauer, a well-known historical theologian who focused her doctoral work on worship in the first four centuries of the church. The cost is only $10. Look for registration details to come later this week.
