“We do not leave the shore of the known in search of adventure or suspense or because of the failure of reason to answer our questions. We sail because our mind is like a fantastic sea shell, and when applying our ear to its lips we hear a perpetual murmur from the waves beyond the shore.” — Man Is Not Alone: A Philosophy of Religion by Abraham Joshua Heschel
I’m guessing you’re a lot like me. I get up everyday hoping not to have a stressful day.
And that is a frightening thought.
What I prefer is not having opportunities to experience pulsating stress and radical change.
What I’m looking for is “normal” (Code for stress-free living.)
Give me just enough variety to keep things interesting but, heaven forbid, I have to get out of my comfort zone of routine and (gasp) actually change.
But here’s the rub…
Transformation is not connected to “normal”.
Progress is always just beyond the boundary of our comfort zone.
And fulfillment can only be temporary if we hope to live a fulfilling life.
“What’s next?”
That’s the breakfast of champions.
The ONE THING for today: Don’t observe life; live! Right up to the last minute.
