Lillian Trasher opened on February 10, 1911, what became the largest orphanage in Egypt. Trasher was baptized with the Holy Spirit during a 1909 revival in Dahlonega, Georgia, and the Church of God credentialed her as an Evangelist. With most of the financial support for the growing orphanage coming from other sources, she applied for appointment as an Assemblies of God missionary in November 1919.
