Matthew 26:17-30 Thursday of the last week of Jesus: Jesus…
Matthew 26:17-30
Thursday of the last week of Jesus:
Jesus and His disciples arrive in the city on Thursday morning, after spending the night in Bethany. This being the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples ask Jesus where will we prepare the Passover? Jesus tells the disciples to go into the city to a certain man and tell him that “My time is at hand, that I will keep the Passover at his house.”
This seems to have taken place during the day because verse 20 says that when evening had come Jesus sat down with the twelve for the Passover meal.
Passover is eaten and Jealousy rebuked by Jesus as seen in Luke 22:24-30
Jesus washers the feet of the disciples, John 13:1-21
Jesus revels the betrayal of Judas, and he defects, then Jesus warns about further desertion: cries of loyalty.
Jesus passes the bread and the cup, as the institution of the Lord’s Supper.
Last speech to His disciples and intercessory prayer.
Late Thursday night or early Friday morning Jesus and His disciples leave the upper room and go to the Garden of Gethsemane.
