Meanwhile, in Chile, the upcoming presidential vote on Sunday sees a far-right candidate leading the pack, fueled by public worries about crime attributed to immigrants. On the climate front, we see a stark contrast: while President Trump dismisses climate change as a ‘con,’ China’s Xi Jinping is making significant investments in green technology, an approach that is providing some optimism as the COP30 climate conference gets underway in Brazil.

Now for a look at prophecy news. Today, November 14th, a conservative watchdog group has urged House Speaker Mike Johnson to garnish Representative Ilhan Omar’s salary, citing what they call an ‘abuse of office’ regarding her outstanding federal student loans. This follows yesterday’s news that Omar herself brushed off deportation threats, asserting she could ‘go live wherever she wants.’ Also on November 13th, the UN’s atomic energy agency, the IAEA, demanded uranium inspections in Iran. Earlier this week, on November 12th, reports indicated the U.S. is planning to construct a half-billion-dollar military base near Gaza to supervise the ceasefire, working closely with the Israeli government and IDF. And on November 11th, the Senate advanced a deal to reopen the government, ending what was the longest shutdown in American history.
Finally, in Jewish history, looking back at November 15th, 1215, Pope Innocent III convened the Fourth Lateran Council, a pivotal event in the Middle Ages. This council issued 70 reformatory decrees, advocating for schools and higher standards for clergy, and notably, it forbade clergymen from participating in judicial ordeals. Crucially for Jewish communities, the council legislated against the subordination of Christians to Jews, specifically prohibiting Jews from holding public office, arguing it could give them a pretext to act against Christians.
