“If you do well, will you not be accepted?”
―God’s question to Cain (Genesis 4:7)
Oh the questions of God!
His first question was to his first human creation: Adam & Eve. He asked them: “Where are you?”
Now he is asking their first human creation: Cain, “If you do well, will you not be accepted?”
Remember this, God’s questions are invitations.
Or to put it another way, when life becomes questionable that is the time to look for God’s invitation. It is time to ask questions like:
- What is God trying to teach me through this?
- What am I missing?
- What role do I have in the matter?
- What does God want me to do?
What you must not do is wallow in self-pity and anger. God does not lay upon you the big questions of life to keep you in the dark. God brings them into your life to motivate you to start walking towards the light.
The ONE THING for today: God confronts us with questions, not because He doesn’t know the answer, but because He wants us to know the answer.
