Recent MIP Commissioning service
The CoG Bishop posted on Facebook (5/17) a picture of his wife praying over boxes containing the credentials of ministers who have had theirs revoked. Here is the text of that post:
"This was taken by someone during the altar service at MIP commissioning today. I love Lori’s compassionate heart and her genuine love for people. The ministers who are represented in these file boxes have lost their credentials; she was praying for them and their families".
While I laud the fact that someone is actually expressing concern over this, why would these be on display at the commissioning service? To serve as a warning to all new ministers? Seems rather odd to me.
Also, I wonder if it has ever occurred to the brain trust in Cleveland to review the documents of those whose credentials were revoked under "rules" that no longer exist or have been modified? I understand for serious, criminal offenses there should be no review, especially for those who were guilty of abuse of children or spouse, or other such offenses. Yet I know for 100% certainty that there are names in those boxes, that were the "guilty party" given an opportunity to have their cases reviewed today, would not be locked away in a cardboard box. I know some who were guilty of moral failures, but is that worthy of a lifetime ban, especially since the former Bishop courted a known adulterer and fornicator of a different Pentecostal denomination and now preaches regularly at his church? Yes, the individual was not CoG, but that is irrelevant. The fact remains he committed sins worthy of banishment in the CoG. Why the double/triple standard?
