“We have not passed that subtle line between childhood and adulthood until we move from the passive voice to the active voice – that is, until we have stopped saying, “It got lost,” and say, “I lost it.” _Sydney Harris
I don’t think people talk to themselves enough.
Oh they talk about others to themselves – “That low down, stinking, blah, blah, blah.”
And then there’s prayer – talking to God.
There’s a place for each of those.
Sometimes it good to let off a little steam in our mind to keep us from doing or saying something out loud that we’d later regret. And of course prayer is never a bad idea.
But what I’m talking about is different. I’m suggesting that you talk to you about you.
For example, I suggest you ask yourself on a regular basis, “Am I satisfied with how my life is right now? And if not, why not? And what am I going to do about it?” That one conversation alone will radically change your life.
Bottom line, people may look at that blank look on your face and think that nothing is happening, but you know and I know that there a running conversation going on behind that blank look and the important thing is to make sure you’re talking to you about you, for you are the one person that you can do something about.
The ONE THING for today: Keep a running conversation going in your mind about how you can do a better job at doing you.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…
