The End of the Story

The gift of myrrh
went from manger to cross.
Mary and Joseph said
thank you to the kings,
but Jesus, on the cross,
when offered wine with myrrh,
said no.
There are times when we, too,
must go heart-long into our pain,
knowing it’s the only way
we will get to Easter living.

__Kneeling in Jerusalem by Ann Weems

In my study of Man of Sorrow, King of Glory I started today on the section about Jesus’s exaltation.

Rhodes opening statement stood out to me: “Burying the Son of God was never going to end his story.”

Paul writing of this event (the death and resurrection of Jesus) stated:

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on the name that is above every name.

Phil. 2:8-9

Here’s the thought I want to leave with you: When we surrender our lives to the King of Glory we are hidden in Him (Col. 3:3) and therefore His sacrifice is our sacrifice, His victory is our victory, and His future is our future.

Thus, no test, trial, failure, or sin has to end our story either.

And that, at least in part, is the message of Easter.
