“Whoever strays from the path of prudence comes to rest in the company of the dead.”
―Proverbs 21:16
We love our heroes!
But remember this, heroes die young, or they live the rest of their lives being remembered for something they did, not something they’re doing now.
They’re like a man who attended my church years ago who had played in the NFL. He never moved beyond those few glory days. For the rest of his life he lived in the past. Every conversation was predictable-eventually it would always get around to some deed or event that happened during his NFL glory days, but there was never anything new happening. Post-NFL, he might as well had died.
Choose carefully the hills you will die on.
“The path of prudence” doesn’t sound as exciting as the path to becoming a hero. But remember this, a life time of small wins – faithfully doing your duty with excellence and integrity – will compound into something truly meaningful and lasting.
The ONE THING for today: The goal in life is not to be a one-hit wonder, the goal is to live a full life fully for something that truly matters. The path of prudence is usually your best bet for achieving that.
Most of your dreams will come true in the future (not today). Therefore, seek to live another day…tomorrow is where the future lies.
