Text verse: Luke 21:24
“And they shall fall by the edge of the sword and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”
This period began when Judah was carried into captivity by Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar. It will end when the Gentile world power is destroyed by the coming of the Lord of glory.
Psalms 24:7 “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.”
Psalms 24:8 “Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.” (WOW.)
Until then, “Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles.” The Jews will be subjected to their political dominion. (We see this happening today.) It seems to me every nation on earth is telling the Israeli Government what to do. The time of the Gentiles began in Jeremiah 52:1-34. Zedekiah was king. It will end in Revelation 19:11-16 when Jesus is coming to the earth on His White horse. (What a day that will be!) Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus. I have to really keep my eyes on Jesus because I can easily get mad at the world for going against the beloved Jews. I could keep talking about this subject, but I’d better move on; otherwise, I would never finish this article.
This article will be in Daniel chapters 2,7, and 8.
Nebuchadnezzar has dreamed a dream, and Daniel will tell him what he dreamed and then interpret the dream.
There will be 5 Gentile Empires. 4 of the Empires have passed, and 1 has not yet happened. Here is the list of the Empires.
- Babylon Empire
- Medo- Persian Empire
- Greek Empire
- Roman Empire
- Revised Roman Empire (Future)
- Jesus Empire (It will last 1,000 years)
Babylon
Daniel 2:32 “This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass.”
Daniel 2:37 “Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.”
Daniel 2:38 “And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.”
The head is gold. This kingdom was the greatest kingdom. You will notice that the metals go down in value, but the metals get stronger. The integrity of the kingdom became less. The armies seem to become more brutal.
Daniel 7:4 “The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.”
This may be referring to when Nebuchadnezzar acted like a beast until he was humbled. (I believe it was 15 years.)
Medes-Persian
Daniel 2:32 “This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass.”
The breast and arms of silver: This is the Greek Empire. The arms represent the two nations.
Daniel 7:5 “And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.”
I believe the three ribs are three nations.
- Assyria
- Babylon
- Medes
Babylon and the Medes came together and conquered Assyria. The Persians conquered the Medes and Assyrians. Then the Medes and Persians conquered the Babylonians.
Daniel 8:3 “Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.”
Daniel 8:20 “The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.”
The two horns represent the two nations. One was higher than the other one. Persia was more powerful than the Medes.
Cyrus’ army conquered Babylon in 539 BC; you will find this in Daniel 5:28.
Daniel 2:32 “This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass.”
Greek
His belly and thighs of brass
Daniel 7:6 “After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.”
This kingdom was like a leopard. Alexander the Great started to fight the Medes and Persians in 334 BC. He conquered them in 331 BC. The leopard is the fastest animal there is. Alexander never lost a battle. Many believe that he was the greatest general in history. He was only 33 when he did this. He thought he was a god. When he was dying, they asked him to name a new ruler, and it is said that he said, “the strongest.”
The 4 wings of a fowl and 4 heads: this is referring to the 4 generals who took over his kingdom.
Daniel 8:5 “And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.”
This verse says, “and touched not the ground.” Just like the leopard – quick.
Daniel 8:8 “Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.”
Daniel 8:9 “And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.”
Verse 8: The great horn was broken; this is Alexander when he died. Then came up four notable ones to the four winds. The 4 generals took four sections of the kingdom; they each went separate. That is the meaning of the four winds. One of the generals grows stronger than the others. Notice at the end of the verse, it says, “and toward the pleasant land.” I could talk more about this, but I need to close on this article. This is Israel.
Closing
Zechariah 9:8 “And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.”
What a wonderful statement! He says in this verse, “and no oppressor shall pass through them any more:” We really do have total victory in Jesus. Who on this earth can stand against Jesus Christ? No one.
The Worldwide Prayer Movement
Job 16:21 “O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!”
Job pleaded for at least one man to intercede with God on his behalf. I believe there are over 8 billion souls on the face of this earth So many lost souls do not have one person interceding on their behalf to God. I will tell you right now, someone prayed for you and me.
