When It’s Not The Most Important Thing
“It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.”
― Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes
I must have watched this video at least a thousand times. I can’t number the days I’d come in from a full day of doing really important stuff and have one or more of my six virtually perfect grandchildren meet me at the door. We’d sit down at my home computer and bring up the “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” video and I’d sit there with them in my lap watching them, as they – with rapt attention – watched yet one more time the owl and star touch hands.
I’d say to myself, “David, don’t forget this moment. Treasure it.”
And that leads me to my thought today…
On any given day there will be the most important thing that you need to get done. But that doesn’t mean there are not other things that are important too.
There are definitely crossroad moments in your life where you have to make one of the most important decisions in your life.
But there are a lot of miles between those crossroads and there’s a lot of living to do while on the journey. That’s important too.
Matter of fact, the reason you get to those “most important” crossroad is because you took care of a lot of “small importants” along the way.
For example…
We’ve all heard it: “When you come to the end of your life you won’t be saying, ‘I wish I had spent more time at the office.'”
I get it, you get it…
But don’t forget that there is a distinct possibility that you could say, “I wish I had done a better job while I was there.”

And here’s something else; its amazing how those unimportant things turn out to be a lot more important than we thought at the time.
Bottom line, sign your work, give it your best, you never know what will be most important when viewed through the lens of time.
The ONE THING for today: Your time is currency. Signing a lot of small checks can add up over a lifetime.
